LB Comments On Nate Robinson
Quote:
"I'm pretty excited about him," Brown said when camp ended. "He's terrific, and he's going to be better and better. He can flat play. He's a rookie and he's got to learn, but he can play. He wants to learn."
Robinson's athletic ability is amazing. His father, Jacque, was a star running back at Washington in the early '80's, and Nate played one year for the football team as a cornerback before concentrating on basketball and leading the Huskies in scoring three straight seasons.
After a practice in Charleston, Robinson amused teammates by leaping and grabbing a rim with both hands and hanging there with his feet dangling more than three feet off the ground. Of course, Crawford and Stephon Marbury weren't quite so amused when they had to bring the ball up against Robinson, who pestered them relentlessly.
Robinson isn't afraid to take on anybody, and that makes him special in Brown's eyes. "I don't look at Nate as being small," he said. "He's so athletic and strong. This kid is a different kind of player right now. But he's got great feet and great energy. He should be a great defender."
Brown isn't the only one with "great" expectations for Robinson. Accepting Brown's criticism in practice, Robinson smiled and said, "He says you need a great point guard to be a great team. I take that into consideration that he wants me to be great. They don't call me 'Nate the Great' for nothing, so I've got to live up to the name."

Re: LB Comments On Nate Robinson
I don't trust whatever LB says about players to the media in regards to playing time and how he likes them. I only believe what I see on the court once the real season starts. I am not saying that has a knock either Nate or LB just I have heard enough "promising" comments from LB to know better..

Re: LB Comments On Nate Robinson
If nothing else LB is letting it be known to Steph and Crawford that they need to up their anti on the defensive end cause there's this wonder kid who's working hard for a good chunk of their playing time.

Re: LB Comments On Nate Robinson
What are the actual thoughts on Nate game in this preseason? Is he fitting LB plans and his rotation?

his preseason play has not been as impressive as his summer league play. He's not showing a lot of smarts on penetrations. Lots of turnovers and not really able to get up and over his defenders.
Few are giving up an Nate, don't get me wrong; but in summer league he was looking like our rookie most ready to contribute, now he looks least ready.

Oak..disagree a bit
Better in the summer, yes, but you expect that since he is now playing against real NBA players. I think he has made mistakes but he has made enough very good things happen to warrant playing time. He is already a better defender than either of our starting guards and plays harder all the time. Guy's got onions, too. I bet he gets 10-15 minute/game.
