Curry hot at Bulls' Paxson
http://www.nydailynews.com/front/sto...p-303370c.html
Quote:
Eddy Curry called it "mind-boggling" and a "shame" that Bulls GM John Paxson would reveal that Curry had a previously unreported heart scare five months before he was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat.
Paxson also raised the possibility that Curry has a family history of heart problems, saying the former Bulls center had once said his mother had suffered a heart attack, only to later say it hadn't happened.
"It's kind of mind-boggling that he's still at that," Curry said following yesterday's practice in Tarrytown. "I had something last year but it was not heart-related at all. We went to the doctor just to make sure that it wasn't. Everything was fine and we got through it."
When asked if he felt Paxson was covering his tracks in the wake of last week's controversial trade with the Knicks, Curry replied: "I think he's doing something. I don't understand why he's still mentioning me. I feel like it's over with. The deal is done. I'm here in New York and he should get over it. He should try to move on like I did."
The Knicks officially declined to comment on Paxson's statement or whether they were aware that Curry was taken to a Chicago-area hospital last October after complaining of chest pain and lightheadedness. Privately, the organization is upset that Paxson is now speaking out about a player the Bulls no longer have under contract, saying Paxson may be violating federal pricacy rules by talking about Curry's medical history.

The Knicks do not see Curry as a health risk and even Paxson said that "in all likelihood Eddy doesn't have" hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
"I wouldn't put myself or the New York Knicks at risk like that," said Curry, who will make his preseason debut tonight against the Nets in Bridgeport, Conn. "I wouldn't do that if I felt it was a possibility that something could happen to me or that I wouldn't be able to last the entire season. I wouldn't put myself in that position or Mr. Isiah Thomas (the Knicks' president).
"The whole John Paxson thing and the Chicago Bulls, that's behind me right now. I'm trying to get past it and move on with my life in New York and it's a shame that stuff like that is still going on in Chicago."

i think its time paxson moves on and concentrates on the player he has , instead of the one he doesn't.

Re: Curry hot at Bulls' Paxson
Paxson is trying to preserve the reputation of the Bulls organization and the front office. It is important that the players and the public know the situation and that he did try to do the right thing for Eddy. The Bulls will have alot of cap room next summer and it will be important to preserve the good name for the future. I don't see a problem with it.

I agree with both you guys. I think Pax set the record straight and now he can move on.
Meanwhile, a real heart casualty emerges:

ATLANTA HAWKS STATEMENT ON THE DEATH OF JASON COLLIER
The Atlanta Spirit family is saddened to report the sudden passing of Hawks center Jason Collier, 28, this morning.
“Jason and his family are first and foremost in our prayers during this difficult time,” said Hawks Executive Vice President and General Manager Billy Knight. “Jason was a devoted family man who deeply loved his wife Katie, daughter Elezan (Ella), his parents and siblings. He was also a tremendous friend to the Hawks employees who spent time with him, and a hard-working and dedicated teammate to many NBA players over his five seasons in the league. We will truly miss Jason’s personality and his spirit, and he will be in the thoughts and minds of our team and organization forever.”
A five-year NBA veteran, Collier spent the last two seasons with the Hawks after playing his first three years with the Houston Rockets. He finished his collegiate career at Georgia Tech after transferring from Indiana University.
Born September 8, 1977 in Springfield, Ohio, Collier attended Central Catholic High School in Springfield.
A real tragedy. This heart business is no joke.
