Nate Robinson Rips Refs
Quote:
In the eyes of Knick rookie Nate Robinson, a double standard exists.
"Honestly it feels like whenever we foul somebody, it's like, 'Oh, they fouled him too hard,' or, 'They try to play too dirty,' " said Robinson, a central figure in a fourth-quarter scuffle that drew three technical fouls in the Nets' 109-101 victory over the Knicks at the Garden.
"But if another team fouls us too hard or slaps us in the face, it's all right. That's what it feels like."
The play last night that got technicals for Robinson, teammate Quentin Richardson and Net Richard Jefferson came with 7:07 left. After a Knick turnover, the Nets were on a 2-on-1. Jefferson fed Jacque Vaughn, who was fouled hard by Robinson. The rookie ended the sequence with a shove and grab of Vaughn's uniform. Jefferson interceded and lots of jawing — and the Ts — ensued.
"Holiday cheer," said Vaughn. "Just a hard foul."
Robinson said the "shove" was merely him landing awkwardly and trying to prevent a fall. Robinson was the Garden's hero last night, playing with energy and purpose. Stephon Marbury sat for the first 9:05 of the fourth quarter. "He was phenomenal," said Knick coach Larry Brown. "I told him he got us back in the game."

From what I saw in the early going the calls were suspect. Especially Eddie Curry, who at times was tripled teamed and pushed and the call has always gone the other way. Curry also gets frustrated and pushes off, but the defensive foul sometimes is committed before he goes into his move. Frye is another kid who can't catch a break from the zebras. Nate is right, and I feel the Knicks need to start pushing and shoving themselves to send a message. That was a nice hard foul that Nate gave to Vaughn, but all I heard is crying from folks stating he is a "thug" and that Jefferson should have smacked him. Last time I checked, Jefferson was as soft as a butter milk biscuit and so are the majority of the folks on that team. It's time for the rest of the players to start sending a message and make the opposing team pay the price when they go into the paint.

Re: Nate Robinson Rips Refs
Robinson got away with a Flagrant foul - he's not the one who should be talking about the refs.

That was a nice hard "clean" foul that should have been done earlier in the game. If it was a flagrant I'm sure the Zebras would have called it just that, but they didn't.

Re: Nate Robinson Rips Refs
My point was more that if the refs had truly held a double standard, they could have called that a flagrant easily.

If you been watching any Knick games at all this season, you would know that the refs haven't been giving the Knick players any calls at all. Nate is talking about the calls for this season so far, so even if they decided not to call a flagrant on that play does not dispute the fact that the Knicks aren't getting any love from the Zebras. One non-whistle does not change the point of this thread.

That may be, but then at least Robinson picked a lousy time to bring it up. If Curry had said the same thing, I would've agreed.

you checked wrong last time- im not sure how u can call the vocal leader on the team soft, especially a player that has been a central figure in winning playoff games and playoff series. soft makes no sense there- as for NJ being soft, is J Kidd? is Jason Collins? Marc Jackson? who are you aiming at here, besides anyone not on your team due to your own frustration....

Last time I checked this was a message board you don't like what is written then you don't have to respond. So you listening names down like that suppose to mean something to me is a waste of time, cause you preaching on the wrong message board. Try posting that across the Hudson....

The POINT is also to stay on topic which you have failed to do on every last post on this particular thread. i'm not going to turn this into why you think the Nets players are soft thread. If it's not about the comments Nate made about the refs then that means you're going off topic.
If you didn't get the Hudson line, then I really don't know what to tell you.

Mike Breen even said the Knicks got off without getting a flagrant foul called
