Francis: Starting Job Next Year Or Ticket Out Of Town
Quote:
Steve Francis made it clear: By next season, if he's not starting, he'd rather be departing.
Hopefully next year it'll change," said Francis, who had only come off the bench three times in his career before this season. "This summer we'll be able to evaluate more what my role is. I don't plan on coming off the bench next year.
"If it's a situation where they don't feel I'm a starting player on this team, it'll be good to go in a different direction.
"It's not a big issue now. [November] is when it'll be an issue. I'm not trippin' on it."
Brown's response? "I'm happy he wants to start. That's why you have training camp," said the Knick coach, who praised Francis' willingness to come off the bench. "He'll be in a position to earn the right to play. I'm glad he wants to be in that position."

Re: Francis: Starting Job Next Year Or Ticket Out Of Town
Brown gets on EVERYONE'S nerves that's just the way it is. This is not a team designed to be coached by someone like Brown. It isn't advanced enough to accept a " SYSTEM" based on more than athleticism and that's what LB is all about. Having him here is just hindering our future and destroying whatever little chance he has left in winning a championship in his career. A bad situation for both sides if I've ever seen one.

What do you disagree with, Kitty?
I think he's right. Francis doesn't deserve an automatic spot in the starting lineup. He must earn it, and if he isn't getting it done (and so far he is not), he should sit...end of discussion.
And to Knickfan......if a team is too stupid to learn a system that every other team he has coached has learned, then the team is too stupid to win. Athletic players are fun to watch but good basketball players win titles. You can have both (see wade, MJ, and tons of others). And BTW....this team wasn't DESIGNED to be anything. It is just a collection of players that don't fit with each other or to LB's system. IT can spot talent but has NO idea how to assemble the right pirces into a cohesive unit.

Alpha, Brown talks to the media way too much. He is getting on my last nerve with that crap. Just shut up and run the team for petesake! He loves the media more than Senator Chuck Schumer. They both competing for the ultimate title of media whore.

Schumer's the man
Yeah but anyway Larry is turning into a very immature coach for W/E reason and that is NOT good for a 78 yr old!

Re: Francis: Starting Job Next Year Or Ticket Out Of Town
Look on the bright side, at least he is doing the clown act. I mean, Larry Brown, no matter how great a coach he is, can't stand success.
With the Sixers, after building up the franchise around AI and challenging for the Finals, he left after a year. With Detroit, after winning the Championship, you have him attracting the media with all this outlet for coaching another franchise. During a winning season he couldn't stop talking or making up rumors.
Let's face it, Brown loves drama... and unless he has it he won't be happy. I think Brown likes being angry for exercise. Don't you think?

Re: Francis: Starting Job Next Year Or Ticket Out Of Town
Seriously why did you get him if we weren't going to play him? Give me a break. If Larry wanted him on this team, he knows his resume, he knew what he was getting into. So why get him? What a waste of a trade! Why make the ****** move? Pathetic!

Re: Francis: Starting Job Next Year Or Ticket Out Of Town
i dont like his "pass offense" method, its like when someone has the open sot, pass it up, and thatrs why channing frye isnt experiencing realt talent. we have ALOT of perimeter shooters on this team, robiunson, marbruy, frye, woods, rose, and EVEN francis, they drive to the rim and can also score a quick shot on a daily basis, that is how gilbert arena gets most of his points, or ANY all star in the nba, BY SHOOTING. if brown doesnt realize that, then he and his team are doomed

woods is athletic, stephon's not a good leader
eddy curry sweats, but still works hard
nate robinson's good, but isnt a real point guard...
lee's underrated, rose is expiring, malik rose is dying, jackie is working hard, and frye is the best, the knicks need to get q off their chest.......

Those Brown quotes make me wanna slap the **** out of him. He makes himself sound like god, ugghh, it's so hard to tolerate. It's not like Francis isn't good, what the **** more do you want Mr. Brown?

Man..do you guys watch?
Francis sucks, or at least he has since he's been here. Why play a guy when guys off the bench are playing better? The guy is a worse defender than Steph. I have no problems with him getting benched. This is a very poorly constructed team and if LB really wanted Francis, I have no idea why. I really only dislike the way LB has used the media to call out players. As for Butler playing over Curry...please.... He is a lazy guy most nights. Curry was 6/7 with 6 boards in 24 minutes (with 0 to's). Why did he not get more shots?
The rooks stay...JC deserves more time based on his willingness to adapt...curry stays...Qw..Qrich stays...M. Rose..everyone else can go. I'd like to add Mike James and Harrington in the off season. I think that team could be a start.
