Arrow Isiah Thomas Will Be On ESPN Radio On 6/27/06

Isiah will be on the Steven A. Smith show at 12:30PM. I'll be able to listen to it, hopefully SAS will ask him some tough questions.

I hope he doesn't go with pure 2 guards. That would be the worst thing for us. We need pure 1's and maybe a good big.

Re: Isiah Thomas Will Be On ESPN Radio On 6/27/06

Isiah feels he will be able to bring the all-star out of Curry and that Curry will have the oppurtunity to do so.
Isiah said he will lead the team and is the leader while Marbury's job is to just to play well and perform on the court.
Isiah seems to really believe in the team, he is defending them.

lol Seemed like it was getting a little tense near the end.

Re: Isiah Thomas Will Be On ESPN Radio On 6/27/06

Isiah on Curry: He has potential to be an All-Star, and I'm good with working with young players.

Isiah on Dolan: He wants to see, a team that comes out and competes. This is what we intend to give the fans.

SAS: How worry are you?

Isiah: Pressure is what I dealt with all my life, I had guns pointed at my head growing up, and dodging bullets, so I'm used to it.

SAS: People are questioning Marbury's leadership. Can Steph lead the team?

Isiah: I'm the leader of the team, Steph's job is to play and perform and to have fun. If you looking for a leader, then you looking at me. Steph may not have leadership skills, in basketball that is not required if you have to be sucessful.

SAS: If you don't have vocal present on the court they may not be that good.

Zeke: Let's look at the NBA Finals who was your leader on those two teams? Those two teams were very sucessful.

SAS: The coaches, but the players led by example on the court by having great work ethic.

SAS: I'm oppose to having Francis and Rose on this team. What was your vision before the Francis and Jalen trade?

Isiah: I got here 2 1/2 years, when i got here I had to tear down the team. Last year we added Curry, and 3 draft picks. The salaries were going down before the Francis and Rose trade. We were continuing to build our young players. that change, and we went off track. My plan is to make it work.

SAS: Why did you go off track?

Isiah: We gave Larry the players he wanted.

SAS: You said last year that the players on this team are not tough, do you have enough guys who are tough enough? Do you have enough dogs?

Isiah: We will make dogs.

SAS: How you going to do that?

Isiah: You will see, If you look at my background I played and coach on solid defensive teams.

SAS: What was the problem last year?

Isiah: There was a host of problems, that I don't want to get into today.

SAS: Your career may very well be on the line. If you don't accomplish your goals, and if it dosen't work out , Steph and company is holding your future in their hands.

Isiah: I am very comfortable operating in a pressure environment, my players will learn how to deal with pressure.

That's all I can remember guys, and this is copyright by me, so if you post on another board you better give me credit.

Zeke is starting to sound very pissed. What was his demeanor like as he was making those comments? Did he sound rather aggitated or more relaxed? Basically did he sound serious or did he try to make himself look better in front of Dolan?

Isiah was trying to stay relaxed most of the time. But, IMO some questions really pissed him off. He said he was comfortable in pressure situations so many times. I think he kept saying that because he was getting a little annoyed.

Doesn't sound like a guy who's comfortable in pressure situations.

Yes I agree, I think he really got pissed off at the other guy, not Steven A. I forgot his name, he was more confrontational toward Isiah than Steven A was.
