Best player so far.....

David Lee, so far. The guy looks like a starter to me. Two years down the road this guy can be a star.

Re: Best player so far.....

He worked on his jumper in the off season which shows a lot of dedication. But, will he get the right playing time to make an impact against opponents this season? I want him to get some minutes, forget the rest of the overpaid bums we have on this team. It's all about the youth and developing their skills.

Re: Best player so far.....

He looks like he's really serious about stepping up his game. I'm still not ready to peg him as a starter after two summer league games but he sure as hell better get some minutes off the bench. Plus Marbury was being interviewed during the game and it seems he really likes Lee. He really seemed to go out of his way to compliment him, even saying that Lee was the main factor in the Knicks' 6 game win streak last season.

He is averaging...

about the quietest 20/10 you will ever see. If he had some respect from the refs it'd be even better. Make him the starter and put Balkman behind him. I still think Frye may end up at center with Lee at PF in a Suns type style.

I don't believe this means Curry is gone. To be honest with you, I felt that both Lee and Frye forming our front court was an excellent idea to begin with at the start of the season. This would allow us to bring Curry along slower to become acclimated to the rigours of getting out on the break. Of course, this will take time for him to get into the shape and the mindset of doing so on the regular, so I believe bringing him off the bench is best. Getting rid of him all together I believe is a bit extreme especially when you consider the Mavs run the ball with Erick Dampier and DeSagna Diop as their two centers. Those two players have nothing on Curry in terms of baseline to baseline speed or athletic ability to fit into the break. The only advantage they do have on Curry is the know how of how to fit in with the break which came from experience of playing in the system. Curry has even more importance for this team when the ball is slowed down which occurs most of the team even with running teams. In this set, Curry becomes the focus of the offense similar to what the Lakers did with Kareem and ShowTime Lakers. And NO to the people I know that will come out and ask me a dumb question like "so you think Curry is as good as Kareem." You don't have to be Kareem to play a role similar to his. Tim Thomas played a role similar to what Dirk does on the Mavs this season. Is Thomas Dirk? Do they have the same impact? Alright then. They both still effected the game in a positive way, just one moreso than the other.

As for David Lee, I love the way he fits into the team but I just wish he'd look to add more strength to keep his man in check defensively. You could be aggressive all you want but you need so mass there to attempt to hold your position from time to time.

Bingo, Twinkster....

I didn't mean to ship him out, only to let Frye play more at the 5. Curry is one of the most athletic centers in the league. If he ever starts to "get it" he is a sure allstar. I agree about Lee getting stronger....and I think he is and will continue to get stronger. He did a decent job on Amare despite AS's 24 points. His line was 24/1 to Lee's 19/12. Especially impressive considering he was a primary focus on offense while Lee was not any apparent focus. I think the fact that guys can play multiple spots will be a huge plus down the road.

I was refering to Kitty who felt that Curry was gone if we ran the ball. As for Lee against Stoudemire, Amare was playing just at half speed and Lee seemed to be giving his all. I believe that come regular season time, Lee won't fair to well againgst the former MVP candidate especially because he seems so in shape. I'm hoping though that Lee gets the strength factor down because it's the only thing I think is really a flaw for him at this point.

Correction I was asking Dog, what the hell we gonna do with Curry, if we elected to start Frye and Lee to maintain the front court. Surely you don't think his expensive behind is coming off the bench?

Yeah, my bad on that one. I didn't note the question mark but it does seem as though you believe he doesn't have a spot on the team if not starting. I think no player is above coming off the bench that young regardless of how good they are. Besides, there hardly are any players left on our bench that can't be considered expensive so why should Curry be different?

So we gave away 1 first rounder, and an option for the Bulls to switch with us again so that Curry can come off the bench? I don't understand the logic behind that one. Why mortgage the future for a "bench" player. I think you need to re-think your reasoning on that one.

I don't. Again, learning to play a new way is a progression. He's not going to wake up one day and be able to do something he's never done in his career. Does it mean he won't be able to eventually? No which is exactly why I'd bring him along slowly to improve his conditioning and court awareness in order to be a player of consequence in the future. By doing so, we avoid any injuries that could result from his body wearing out and avoid destroying his confidence. Eventually, he should be placed back into the lineup but only after he shows improvement within the system.

Well, if Curry's going to be in a run-n-gun style, then he's going to lose a hell lot of weight. I think Isiah will split a good 10 minutes during a game just to play run-n-gun in the second quarter and run half court sets during 1st, 4th, and a bit in the 3rd quarter.
