David Lee On Fast Foward
Quote:
David Lee won't have to worry about playing time next season. The Knicks 6-foot-9 forward won't have to worry about Isiah Thomas playing aging veterans Maurice Taylor and Malik Rose over him in November.
If Thomas had any doubt Lee is a chief building block, the 30th pick in the 2005 draft has proved himself in Las Vegas. With Channing Frye being shut down with a sprained ankle and Nate Robinson suffering a broken nose, Lee has emerged as the Knicks' clear star in summer-league, perhaps in the whole tournament.
Entering last night's game vs. Detroit, Lee was averaging 18 points, 11.3 rebounds, 1.7 steals in 32 minutes and shooting 65 percent after three games.
"Everyone says summer league doesn't matter, but I definitely would've been disappointed if I came up here and didn't give my best performance," Lee said. "It's a good jumping-off point."
Lee surely will be named to the Vegas First-Team when play ends tomorrow, and chuckles at the difference from last July.
"Last year I was just trying not to make a fool of myself," said Lee, who still made second team last year. "I was just drafted, everything was happening so fast, it was the first time I was playing against NBA players." The biggest question with Lee's career is what position fits him best - power forward or small forward. Thomas views Frye as the team's starting power forward for the next 10 years, but Knicks brass knows there's a glaring void at the 3.
"So much of it is matchups," Lee said. "Small, quick guys, it's not the best [at small forward], but someone like Artest, a strong 3 with a body of a 4-man makes more sense."
If Lee's jumper looks as silky during training camp in Charleston as it has in Vegas, he will earn the starting small-forward position. Lee is sporting longer hair, and a longer range on his J. "It's something I'm working on," he said. "It does feel more consistent, but it's a work in progress."

Anyone have a general idea on what player in the league or retired does Lee remind you of?

Re: David Lee On Fast Foward
Nobody, there's only one David Lee. But there's someone that reminds me of David Lee who goes by the name of Louis Amundson from the Kings. I was mad that day when we played the Kings because he was showing up against all of our players.

Re: David Lee On Fast Foward
He deserved more time last season and somehow didn't get it. I'm really looking forward this year to see what he can do on a consistent basis.

the guy Lee has reminded me of from the moment he entered the nba is A.C. Green, great rebounder , a 3/4 type who developed a pretty decent J , plays good defense and the kind of guy who had to shoot to get him to want to leave a ball game.
and green did make the All star team once , i hope the same for Lee.

Bobby Jones
Played with the Doctor on the sixers. Same size and style. Jones was a better defender but who knows....Maybe Lee will get there.
