Quote:
Isiah Thomas believes he'll ultimately be judged by the development of Knicks center Eddy Curry next season.
When dishing out his one-year ultimatum, owner James Dolan didn't specify what qualified as "significant progress," but Thomas realizes the elevation of Curry into an elite player and the progress of last summer's first-round picks - Channing Frye, David Lee and Nate Robinson - are the criteria.
"I want to improve our young players, continue to make them grow and get Eddy Curry to the level I think he should be at," Thomas said while doing commentary on MSG Network during the Knicks' 75-67 Las Vegas Summer League finale victory over Washington. "Eddy has a great chance to become an All-Star in this offense. That's my job as a coach."
Thomas said he turned big men Jermaine O'Neal and Brad Miller into All-Star caliber players in Indiana.
"It's not the onus on Eddy Curry," Thomas said. "It's the onus on me to get the most out of him."
The Knicks finished at 4-1 - already the signs of Thomas' high-tempo offense being on display. "It's definitely fun to implement a new style," Thomas said. "It's an offense that starts with rebounding the basketball. It's a full-court offense."

I think I created a thread about Curry should be in the summer league. One of you guys basically said the same thing, he is the key to our success, and I agree. We are worried about Steph and Francis a little bit too much. These guys can ball, they just need to make the adjustments of attitude. Now as far as Curry is concerned, being able to be successful it's entirely up to Eddie Curry. I'm confident that Isiah and Mark can get him prepared but he has to want it.
Side Note: Alphadog, you notice Isiah took credit for Jermaine and Brad, what's your thoughts on that? I know you feel the opposite.
