Is Aguirre The Right Man To Help Our Big Men?
I got this topic from another site, and thought it was very interesting. Do you guys have faith that Mark will be able to turn Curry's game around and make him into a force to be reckon with in the paint? He is suppose to be working with Curry this summer alongside James and the rest of our big men on this team. What makes him so special? Was this one of Isiah Thomas's "buddy hook ups" and that's the only reason why he got the job? Has he helped any other players and turned their game around? There are rumors that he helped Jermaine O"Neil but I'm too lazy to look up that info. He did try to help Sweetney but to be honest with you, I didn't see any drastic improvement. So this leads me to believe that he is probably overrated and has this job because Zeke wants his buddies on the payroll.

Re: Is Aguirre The Right Man To Help Our Big Men?
This question was asked somewhat years ago when the Mark Aquire for Dantley trade went down.
Dantley helped Detroit make the FINALS. Mark Aquire helped Detroit WIN consecutive Titles.
Isiah Thomas talked Aquire away from the Cuban Mavs to help him with the Indiana Pacers, players like Jermain O'Neal, Jeff Foster, Harrington, Bender suprised everyone that season under the tutlage of Mark Aquire.
The Next Season Brad Miller & Ron Artest became NBA Star Players under the guidance of Mark Aquire frontcourt coaching.
Mark Aquire improve Knick players like Nazr, Sweetney, Butler, and Ariza skillz tremendously and was working hard with Tim Thomas.
Mike Sweetney refuse to report to Mark Aquire after the Knick season was over and refuse to participate in the Knicks Summer games which left him questionable to Start the 2005-6 season.
So Sweetney was traded to Chicago weeks before the 2005-6 season started.
Chicago Frontcourt coaching staff is very Poor that is why they had problems with PF-Chandelor and PF-Sweetney and had to get experienced veterans PF this offseason. Remember Chicago Bulls gave up Brand, Brad Miller, Artest, Curry, AD, and now Chandelor (lets see how well Chandelor works under Coach Byron Scott with West this 2006-7 season).
Mark Aquire was a BIG-PART of Isiah Thomas coaching success in Indiana and may become the Knicks future coach.

Hey he did help Yao, he just didn't stick around longer than I would have expected.

Yao's rise to stardom in the NBA can partially be credited to former NBA superstar center Patrick Ewing, who was hired by Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy to aid Yao's development as a center.

I should have said he was hired to help Yao, but I don't know if that worked out. He seems to have improved every year. I'm not a Rockets fan, so I couldn't care less.

Re: Is Aguirre The Right Man To Help Our Big Men?
from what I can tell aquirre knows what he's doing , sweets was a much better player as a knicks than he was as a bull and i believe the respective coaching staffs have alot to do with that .
j. oneal got alot better with aquirre as big man coach ...but has lost some of his esteem since aquirre(and IT) left.
as a player aquirre was a monster with his feel and footwork downlow and it appears he has the ability to translate some of that knowledge to up and commers where guys like kareem abdul jabbar have failed somewhat.
