Delonte West
Although it is highly unlikely that Delonte West is or ever will be made available and although we most likely do note have the means to acquire him, I feel he would be a perfect fit for our team as our 6th man off the bench or even next to Marbury in the starting lineup. I know that the Celtics have been stockpiling swingmen and point guards, forcing West into an awkward position in their rotation. I know West is a solider of sorts and sacrificies himself for the best interest of the team but even he must be frustrated by the lack of confidence of the management in his health. I do not know how we'd get him but if we did, he'd be a guy that would add a solid defensive presence to our squad. NOT JUST A GUY WHO HUSTLE ON DEFENSE but a guy whose actually GOOD on that end of the floor. He also presents an aspect to our game that we do not normally have and that is the ability to hit mid range shots, consistently from one individual player. He can handle the ball and he can play off the ball. In short, he's a jack of all trades but breaks the trend because he actually can excel at all. What do you guys think of him and any suggestions of how we can approach the Celtics to bring him to NY? I'd be willing to move Crawford for him and if not, a package built around David Lee.

Re: Delonte West
Crawford and/or Lee? Are you out of your mind? You make Delonte West sound as if he was Dwayne Wade. I'm waiting for Collins to take the reigns over from Marbury, so sorry, I wouldn't advocate for this guy. Just as Boston's stocked at the point and the wing, the New York Knicks are in the same situation.

Re: Delonte West
I can't agree with you here Twink. I've never been impressed with Delonte, and I would much rather have Craw and Lee. I understand what you mean by him being a jack of all trades, but I think saying that he excels in all those areas is a bit of an exaggeration.

Maybe I did embelish his skills a bit but he is a very talented player from the several games I've gotten a chance to see him play within the Celtics system. I think he is an amazing ROLE PLAYER that can adjust to several different situations. I love his game and even though he may not be as good a player as Crawford, may be a better fit because of how he can mesh next to several of our backcourt players. As for Collins, I wish he can bring those aspects to the game so maybe I shouldn't be so hype about the possibilities with Delonte.

Re: Delonte West
First I'd see if we can dump Q-Rich + something small for the guy. Doubt it though, so I pass here.

Re: Delonte West
Hell No!
Crawford>West
Lee>West
Collins might be just as good as West.
Everyone here forgets that Collins was the most athetic Point guard in this years draft. He has high IQ, came from a strong college program.
Collins is 6'5 quick and strong, can play the 1 and the 2 just like West. Collins has only one weakness and that is his J but he ain't that bad either.
We got a steal at 29 in this years draft, he should have gone higher and scouts agreed before the draft.
Collins just needs to get in the Gym and work on his J and then he will be a starter in the NBA.
Only way i would trade for West is if Ainge and the C's want a salary dump. J.Rose and Mo Taylor + a 2nd rounder for Wally and Ratliff + West

Re: Delonte West
Delonte's a nice player going into his 3rd year in the league. I would trade Crawford for him that prob wouldn't happen though he'd be in the same Division.

Maybe my problem has been that the closest looks I've gotten of Delonte has been when he played our team. Each time he has, he has murked us on both ends of the court not because amazing physical talents or unbelievable skills but through his bball IQ. In his very first game playing us, he dropped 14 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists, 3 steals and 4 shots blocked and continued to post an impressive number of points against us and great shoot percentages in the games that later followed. I think many people underestimate him because he does not tend to stand out but does most of the grunt work on the floor but he's turning into a hell of a role player in my opinion. Although talent wise, he may not be better than what we have but that does not necessarily mean that he's not a better fit. This game is not won on talent alone because if it was, we would have destroyed the world over the past few years when we have not finished atop the standings in the Summer games. Collins may have the oppurtunity to fill a role similar to West but I have not seen the same things in him that I do with Delonte.

Re: Delonte West
Hey man, I totally agree with you, Delonte would make an exceptional role player/sixth man, but he isn't worth Jamal or Lee. Neither do I think we have the room for a player like him, the one thing I hate seeing is good talent going to waste.

Collins is not the most athletic PG
in this draft. Where did you get that? Lack of athleticism is one of his weaknesses (along with no good J). Where the hell do people get this crap? West being a "must get"? Man......

Draftnet.com?
Giving up Lee and Crawford for him must be a joke. BTW about time you make a guest appearance Dog.

Good thing I only suggested moving Crawford OR creating a package centered around Lee for West. Never said Delonte West was a must get but believe he's a guy you should keep an eye on. There are always a place for multi-talented role players.
