2nd round draft picks
Often times, we constantly hear about methods to acquire first round picks while devaluing first round picks. An interesting fact I noticed when watching these playoffs is that a majority of the good teams have had 2nd round picks play important roles in their games. The Spurs for instance have Manu Ginobli and an undrafted Bruce Bowen starter; Tony Parker himself almost slipped into the second round. The Jazz entire team is almost composed of second round picks with Carlos Boozer, Memhet Okur, Paul Millsap, and late first rounders Gordon Giricek, Andrei Kirilenko bringing up the ranks. The Bucks, who I believe are a sleeper team, have Mo Williams, Michael Redd, Bobby Simmons starting with Charlie Bell on the bench.
Maybe their should be more of an emphasis placed on acquiring second round picks for us since they seem to have some diamonds in the rough. It might be a quick an inexpensive way of improving our team.
