Channing Frye
Just wondering if some Knick's fans could fill me in on Channing Frye. I know he had a good rookie year, but could someone tell me why his stats regressed this past year? Was it a confidence/Zeke thing?
Thanks, and good luck next year.

He will wither in Portland, too
Oden and Aldrige are going to get all the time. Channing is one of the PREMIER shooting bigs in the league. He needs to get time and continuity, something I don't see happening in Portland. I like him, though.

He definitely will. Pritchard looks at him as a part of our future, and a rotation of Oden/Aldridge/Frye is going to be very good.
I can see a 32/32/32mpg split there this season. If we trade Joel..

Re: Channing Frye
I'll take Joel P. We need a shotblocker and he is that. Jerome James for Joel P haha? Anyways, Channing Frye is a good shooter for a PF. He has range lo like 20 feet and occasionaly will try for a three. When he's off and missing his shots, he will drive/pro hop/power dribble and then make a stupid pass when he is wide open because he's afraid of missing. He's a good shooter but doesn't have the shooter's mentality if you will. He's soft on defense and shotblocking but at some stretches he's a good rebounder. He fiddles with his mouth guard a lot so when he plays get used to it. I liked him and didn't really want him to go but for Z-Bo, I really didn't mind.
I also don't think Eddy and Zach will both average 20ppg i think it will be reduced to like 16ppg each, but Zach will get like 12rpg. But look for more passing out of double teams to Crawford, Richardson, Marbury who improved his shooting drastically, Robinson if he plays, Chandler if he gets minutes, and Nichols if he gets minutes. Marbury should definitely get his 8 assists per game again, if not more with the addition of Randoplh and having the best frountcourt in the East, or one of the best.

Re: Channing Frye
I agree with the assessments above he needs more time, something I as a Knick fan didn't want to give him, I didn't have much patience with him and thought he was soft, but if Portland uses him right he will be a solid player for you guys, especially on pick and rolls, but don't ask him to go to the post and be physical, that's not his game. He also has to work on his mental toughness.

Re: Channing Frye
Portland should play him at the 5. He played a good chunk of minutes his first year at the 5 with us and looked like a star in the making to most. He played the 4 full-time last year and looked like a role player. I think Frye is a very good complementary player that will be everything you want as a scorer next to Oden. Just play Frye at the 5.

Re: Channing Frye
He didnt do well this year because, I believe, Curry did well this year. Two premier big men is something im worrying about with the zach deal.
