How do you feel about the knicks chances next year ?
I look at the roster as it is and think it will be pretty good .
Curry supposedly will have a 15 fter. and a midrange game , which I'm not really counting on , but i do believe he will be a better rebounder and a better defender. 18 points on 60% fg is pretty much what i'm thinking he'll get.
Randolph in a new city and a year more mature i expect to be on his best behavior , I worry more about his on court behavoir more , he's not used to sharing his touches in the post and while he does have the ability to pass well , is not at all a willing passer...that said I expect at the least for him to be a more efficient post scorer with less defensive pressure on him because the center is not Joel pryzbilla , but actually one of the better offensive centers in the whole league...he may actually wind up being the best 4 in the whole conference.
Qrich I am going on hope that his back woes are done or at least going to be better at least for 60 games or so , if he can be reasonably healthy for that long the small forward spot will be in great hands until either wilson chandler is ready or until Balkman develops a jumpshot.
Crawford hopefully gets some real competition for his minutes so he has to play defense, he doesn't really need to score anymore just make shots when open and create something when plays break down .
Marbury hopefully continues his progress as a team player as long as he does that i dont really care about his #s, I'm judging him soley upon team chemistry.
as for the bench Lee , Balkman, Morris jeffries and Collins should comprise the best bench in the league...all can play multiple positions and against other bench players are all good defenders and in collins and balkman they are potential stoppers.
with Malik , chandler , james, robinson , dickau, jones nichols basically being trade fodder , i suspect dickau jones and an MLE level player (rose, james or jeffries) will be dealt for a big salaried player who can help off the bench , if not then i think dickau will be cut and nichols will be sent to europe.
in the end i think this is a 50 win squad next season, and i think they are the type of team that does well in the playoffs with their low post based offense and abundance of defensive minded role players.

Re: How do you feel about the knicks chances next year ?
A healthy Q.Richardson brings a Winning perspective to this Knick Team.
I never was found of Q.Richardson when he was a Clipper, I used to BASH him hard under Coach Larry Brown. When the Knicks finally let Q.Richardson play at the SF-Position this past season his performance did a great 360 turn around from the previous season playing SG in the Eastern Conference (they ate him up alive). I had to pologize to alot of people in the Garden on how well Q.Rich improved playing team ball on both sides of the court sticking-close on every play, and when he started helping (covering for) Curry & Frye defensive-rebounds all the time, game after game. I had to give Q.Richardson his Props. Now! is Q.Richardson healthy enough to play like that this upcomming season?
.
A Healthy Q.Richardson answers the Knicks Starting SF question.
The problem is how many games could a healthy Q.Richardson START without missing one?
Could a healthy Q.Richardson START (all) the Knicks first 41 games? That is the reason why we needed Ron Artest (he made his Demo LOL, so he is good for all the first 41 games.).
Q.Richardson is what Zack & Crawford need to outscore oponents at the Start & Finish of a game. Curry & Marbury all around talents are inconsistent.
This Knick Team finally need Players to have consistent playingtime together, so they could plan together, team-up together, rebound together, and PASS together.
The Knick Coach is going to have to let some of his young players play together (Lee, Balkman, and Nate) consistently, even when they do outplay the Knicks-coach money$ Starters.
I still say the Knick Coaching earned all of the 23 and 33 WIN season.

Re: How do you feel about the knicks chances next year ?
I think Knicks have one of THE best starting lineups. Tell me this isn't scary- Marbury, Crawford (or collins), QRich, Curry, Randolph. Everyone can score, and everyone NEEDS a double team to be stopped. And the bench isn't too shabby either- Collins, Lee, Renaldo, Morris! This COULD be an AMAZING TEAM!!!! I might be going too far, but I predict playoffs next year, and at least 45 wins.

Re: How do you feel about the knicks chances next year ?
I need to see how the bench fills out. Gotta move some players. The following players should not be going anywhere (unless for Kobe, but still would hate to see them go): Lee, Balkman (new favorite, this guy is an animal), Chandler, Collins, Marbury, Curry and Randolph.
Don't mind if Nate, Crawford, Q-Rich, Rose, James, Jeffries, go packing if it can bring in a solid SG/SF (offensively). If not, go with what you got. I didn't include Nichols because I think he will play one year overseas.

I think we shouldnt trade Richardson unless for superstar. Nate, jamal, malik, james, jeffries i dont care about. Q is like one of the leaders of this team now. Plus, he'll take care of curry

Re: How do you feel about the knicks chances next year ?
I really don't want to trade Q-Rich, but if it means getting Artest I would. Right now our starting lineup should be, IMO, Marbury, Crawford, Q-Rich, Randolph, Curry and like da1nonly said, they all can score at will.
Curry started to pickup defensively at the end of last season being more aggresive but he needs to continue to improve as does Crawford. Marbury played very solid defense last year, as did Q. With energy guys like Lee, Balkman, Collins, Nate? who can both score and play defense, and other role players like F. Jones, Chandler etc., I think we can get into the playoffs and possible get 45-50 wins (a bit of a stretch but possible).

Re: How do you feel about the knicks chances next year ?
Unfortunately, with Isiah still slated to run the ship as GM and coach, the Knicks chances next season will be very poor IMHO. I think the only way to go in the right direction in New York is TO GET RID OF ISIAH THOMAS. He makes some of the dumbest moves I have ever seen. Can anybody tell me the last time the Knicks were in the playoffs, much less contenders? Its been WAY too long Knicks fans. And I for one and sick and tired of it.

Re: How do you feel about the knicks chances next year ?
I think the Knicks are in trouble on defense.
They might give up close to 100 points game next year if they aren't careful, however i think because they are in a weak conference they will be able to do better than their defense indicates.
If they make it to the playoffs barring injuries to Q and Zach they have a chance to make it to 50 wins.
injuries to Q and Zach are commonplace however, so you better start crossing your fingers for good luck.
Zach and Curry also play similarly. I don't know how everyone on that team will be happy with their stats considering they all would like the ball. Curry and Zach have the potential to dominate, but also the potential to breakdown in a disagreement of epic proportions.
Ultimately the Knicks downfall will be defense. Offense will only take you so far. They will be beaten consistently by western conference teams and will likely fail to make it past 1 round in the playoffs this year.

Re: How do you feel about the knicks chances next year ?
I don't think this team is going to be any good. This might be an eight seed with an early exit at best. I still don't want to see that happen. Playoffs aren't going to change anything. This team isn't a contender and with Randolph in the mix this is a team that's in the same exact position that the team was in when Layden was here. They just traded away cap space and a young power forward obtained with an eighth pick for a questionable power forward who's had a history of knee problems. The only difference I see is that the Knicks specialize on offense now rather then Layden's Knicks which were more of a defensive teams. This team will likely lead the league in turnovers next year. The perimeter defense hasn't been sured up at all and will still be terrible. The three point game could improve slightly or it could get even worse. The Celtics will be better next year. The Nets will likely be better next year with Krstic back. The Sixers could get worse and be worse than this team, but that's really the only one in the Atlantic. I don't see a bright future for this team.

Re: How do you feel about the knicks chances next year ?
What is this mythic cap space? You mean buying out Francis and keeping a scrub like Frye? Good grief. Even when the Knicks get more talent people get mad. If not for the injuries to key players down the stretch the Knicks would have finish ahead of Orlando.
People knock Zach Randolph, but the guy does play hard and if Isiah puts in a good team defensive scheme he could be decent. He doesn't have to lock down anyone, because quite honestly the only guys who give him trouble are Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Dirk and Amare. Every single other big man in the league Randolph at the very least, holds his own. He especially owns the skinny PF's like Bosh and Gasol.

By all means the amount of talent the knicks have on paper should make them a force in the east. In fact, the amount of talent that they had on paper the last few years should've been enough to get to the playoffs..
Noone is mad that you got more talent, because TBH, Isiah and the whole knicks organization have, and continue to do a PISS POOR job of finding the right guys to build a team around.
The individual talent on that team is fantastic, but together its got disaster written all over it due to how poorly conceived the management built this team. There are huge weaknesses across the board that are not fixed, and until the Knicks smarten up and stop living in their Stephon Marbury state of mind they are going to fall short of everyone's expectations.
