Knicks Sign Wilson Chandler

Quote:
New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations and Head Coach Isiah Thomas announced today that forward Wilson Chandler has been signed to a contract. Chandler was selected by New York with the 23rd overall selection in the 2007 NBA Draft.
Chandler, 6-8, 230-pounds, was an early entry candidate in the draft, having declared following his sophomore season at DePaul. The 20-year old, Benton Harbor, MI-native averaged 12.9 points and 7.1 rebounds during his two years for the Blue Demons and left school ranked 10th on the school’s all-time list for career blocked shots. As a member of the Knicks’ entry in the 2007 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas earlier this month, Chandler averaged 13.4 points, on 50.9-percent shooting, and 5.2 rebounds in five games (all starts).

Re: Knicks Sign Wilson Chandler

I know we had to sign our first pick however, Chandler & Nichols both looked good out on the court working together. Chandler is able to mix it up at both the SF/PF position while Nichols dominated the weakside of the SF/SG position.

Both players made it hard to choose one over the other, I chose Demetris Nichols wise Guard awareness in the last two SL games over Chandler, because the Knicks only have one SG (Crawford) on their roster and 53 pick Nichols talent & skillz seem like the best SG-backup for this Knick Team.

Somehow I believe that Demetris Nichols from Syracuse University watched alot of Knick-Games the last two seasons at Syracuse, and knows just what type of talent the Knicks could use to WIN alot of the close loses in the past two seasons.
The Talents Nichols showed in the SL games could be molded easy to fit into the NBA as a BIG-SG (6.8 Rice with defense) for this club in the 2007-8 season. I would not let 53 pick Demetris Nichols leave New York unless it is on a Knick-Bus or Plane this season.

Chandler was a good pick and nice signing for the future-Knicks with his best talents at the SF position, inwhich the Knicks are loaded at now with (Starter) Q.Rich, (Backup) Balkman, and (2nd backup) Jefferies.

Re: Knicks Sign Wilson Chandler

I hope they sign Nichols too. I wish they would just do some kind of garbage trade and ship some bodies out so we can have Chandler and Nichols at the end of the bench.

I wouldn't mind if Jerome (never met a slab of bacon or cheeseburger he didn't like)James and one of the guys coming in the Z trade (Dickau) gets bought out. That would reduce the roster to 15 and no further moves would be needed.
