Nichols fires agent

Nichols fires agent
Demetris Nichols hasn't played in his first NBA game yet, but he's already fired one agent and hired another.
Nichols, the 53rd player selected in June's NBA Draft, recently hired Neff after ending his brief relationship with Bill Duffy of BDA Associates. According to Neff, Nichols was unhappy with the New York Knicks' roster situation. The Knicks traded for the 6-foot-8 Nichols in a draft-night deal with Portland. However, the Knicks have 16 players with fully guaranteed contracts, putting them one over the NBA's roster limit before Nichols gets factored in.
Neff said Duffy had talked with the Knicks on a plan to send Nichols, who led Syracuse in scoring last year with 18.9 points per game, to Italy for a year - an arrangement that would allow the Knicks to retain his rights.
"There was an understanding with the previous agent and the Knicks that he would go overseas," Neff said. "Unfortunately, I don't think Demetris was privy to that. He doesn't want to go overseas."
Nichols brings the number of former SU players on Neff's roster of clients to three. Neff already represents McNamara and Jason Hart.
Nichols was New York's second-leading scorer in the Las Vegas summer league, averaging 15.6 points.
"He hopes to make the Knicks and I think he will," Neff said, "but if he doesn't, after his showing in Las Vegas, I think other teams will be interested in him. But the plan is for him to be a Knick."
Neff said Nichols is training at the Knicks' facility in Purchase. The Knicks are expected to extend a tendering offer this week, which will enable Nichols to join the team's training camp when it opens on Oct. 1.
"We hope he makes the Knicks," Neff said. "We're planning on that, but the reality is if the Knicks can't keep him, there are plenty of other teams that would like to have him."

it looks like he's gonna force Zeke to keep him or cut him loose.

My sentiments exactly Grinch, I'm hoping Isiah keeps him.

Re: Nichols fires agent
What Nichols showed his last year in college and his performance in the SLG this offseason his awareness and intincts at the SF & SG position is more advanced than Chandler. The more he played the bigger his confidence grew for forefilling one of the Knicks weakest positions (Backup BIG-SG to defend peremeter). Nichols & Nate were dangerous on the peremeter in the SLG in Vegas.
Nichols may turn out to be the best part of the Portland trade on draft night. Sign Him!!!

Storm
They cannot send him to the NBDL once they tender an offer. They either have to put him on the team or allow him to go to Europe. They are the only options. The NBDL is only an option if they renounce his rights after the offer is made. I think it's absurd to try to say how much he will play at this point. Best all around performance in the summer league speaks volumes. He was more than they expected. I don't see any reason he can't compete for time if he plays well. To assume he won't play well is dumb since he has been great on every test since his SR year began.

actually any 1st or 2nd year player can be sent to the nbdl up to 2-3 times a season, all players under nba contracts in their 1st or 2nd years as nba players can be sent down...there are no exceptions to this.
he'll still be paid according to the amount he signed with the knicks as long as he is under contract with them.
if the knicks want to they can offer him a 2 year deal and leave him there(NBDL) for the entire time and he cant say jack about it because he signed a contract with them.

Grinch..
That is not true according to an article in the post AND in the interview with one of the NY execs during the summer league. It was stated that the NBDL was NOT an option by regulation, although the Euro-leagues were. If you have some link contrary to this, please post it so I can learn from it.

think about it alpha if the knicks could really send to Nichols to a euroleague he would have to be under contract ...in which case Nichols really wouldn't have a say .
if you have been reading the recent articles he clearly does have a say on whether he joins a euroleague team which is why he fired his agent for agreeing to steer him overseas...if he agrees to the QO from the knicks he will be a knick but possibly in the NBDL....the knicks have to offer him one or he becomes a free agent.
