Marbury Leery Of Joining Chaotic Environment ?
Quote:
Marbury first Christmas without his recently deceased father proved too tough. Marbury missed the 5 p.m. team flight and will not play when the Knicks face Orlando tonight at the TD Waterhouse Centre.
Marbury's decision to continue his bereavement leave generates even more speculation that he is very leery of joining the Knicks' chaotic environment with Isiah Thomas in charge and is sticking it to the coach. A friend of Marbury told The Post yesterday, "Isiah will throw Steph under the bus any time the going gets tough."

The guy created the environment. Sorry but this guy is out of his mind if he thinks that the environment was created despite of him. It started with him!

I'm no Marbury fan, but I can understand him this time. He's not the most mentally tough player to begin with, and having to deal with his father's death is hard enough. He doesn't need the stress that comes with this Knicks team - no matter how complicit he may be.

I understand that he lost his father but he CREATED this mess. It all starts with him and now he says "wow, what a mess I don't want to be back there". He needs to go back and clean up that mess or ask to be traded.
You're right, hes not mentally tough, hes a New Yorker but I guess hes as spoiled as any child with millions of dollars. Since he was a kid, he was told he will be the great ______, the best _______, the next _______... and he never seen bottom until he came into the NBA. He needs to go to a team and to a coach where they can give him a pat, or a 5th place trophy every time he messes up.

Well, I still wouldn't place primary blame on him. He's third on the list, after Zeke and Jimbo Dolan.

You're hitting on the key point there. He's not mentally tough - he's never had to face reality before. This is the first time it's actually touched him - and he can't deal with it.

How did he create this? It's not his fault that Randolph is a defenseless black hole. Not his fault that Curry is always apathetic and only 1/3 of a ball player. Not his fault that Jeffries is only good for defense. Etc.

Re: Marbury Leery Of Joining Chaotic Environment ?
Yea NY has to build around Starbury the right way. Marbury isn't the problem here at all. Lee can help him get to the ecf in a few yrs. Keeping Marbury tho is smart and getting rid of Curry and Randolph is smart as well. Replace everyone with defensive guys and get to the finals with Marbury like how AI did on Philly.
