Knicks vs Spurs Game Thread: 1/4/07 @ 8:30PM

Knicks coach Isiah Thomas was in a reflective mood while explaining his belief that no roster shakeup will occur before next month's trade deadline. It was almost scary. "We have good talent," Thomas said. "It's not about breaking them up or tearing them down, it's about getting them to play better as a team." Thomas believes a trade at this point could result in a mistake that could set the organization back a couple of years.

An injury-riddled season will present many different challenges for the Spurs. Friday's home game against the Knicks doesn't figure to be one of them. OK, Tim Duncan and three fellow starters, all of whom played 38 or more minutes Thursday in Denver's thin air, might be tired on the second night of a back-to-back. And, yes, the long post-game bus ride to the Denver airport, the two-hour flight home and the lost hour from the Mountain to Central time zone aren't ideal.

I could see the Spurs resting Duncan a lot in this game.

If that means more minutes for Lee - against this team - it won't be the worst thing

Re: Knicks vs Spurs Game Thread: 1/4/07 @ 8:30PM
After watching the Spurs game last night, seeing alot of last season lineup on the court (Curry, Lee, Malik, Bum Q.Rich, Bum Jefferies, Crawford, Marbury, and Nate), it was obvious why Isiah Thomas drafted 6.8 Wilson Chandler and 6.8 Demitris Nichols, and picked up 6.11 Randolph Morris.
These three Rookies along with Balkman, Collins, Nate, Lee, Crawford, Marbury, and Curry, should've been the Knicks 10-Man Rotation from the Start of the 2007-8 season.
The Best Player the Knicks received in the Portland Trade in June was 6.8 SF/SG Demitris Nichols.
It would have been easier to get SF/SG-Nichols peremeter defense & offense to co-exist with last season players than the 3 years of non production from Q.Richardson, and the 2 years of non production from Jefferies, or trying to get Zach & Jones to co-exist with Marbury & Curry.
With the Peremeter shooting the Knicks could have got from Nate, Nichols, Chandler, inconsistent Marbury, and Dum Decision Making Crawford, in each game this season I doubt if the Knicks would've got blown out of 3 or 4 games this season.
Nate pressuring the ball comming up the floor each time and the defensive prowness of "Chandler & Nichols" would've made up for the "NO-Defense Marbury & Crawford"...
P.S. Chandler should replace Jefferies, Nichols should've replaced Q.Richardson, and Morris defensive rebounding should've replaced Frye.

enough with nichols, he couldnt even crack minutes with the cavs who were without pavlovic at first..........he couldnt crack minuts with the hapless bulls and now he's in Iowa i think??
anyway after today's perfmance, the knicks are due for a stinker, 20+ pt loss vs the rockets, since eddy curry basically put in 2 weeks worth of work last night.
