Isiah Thomas: Jamal Crawford may be fixture at point guard

Quote:
WASHINGTON - Isiah Thomas believes he already may have found Stephon Marbury's successor.

Thomas revealed last night that Jamal Crawford, generally regarded as a streak shooter, could be the Knicks' playmaking point guard.

"That may be his best position," Thomas said of the shooting guard. "We may have to rethink that. If he keeps playing like this -scoring, distributing, defending - this may be his position."

However, Nate Robinson saw heavy minutes at the point last night. He played 33 minutes and recorded nine assists. Crawford had a team-high four turnovers and four assists to go with his 19 points in 38 minutes.

added in because its the last game

Quote:
That left Riley and Thomas to patrol the sidelines, work the refs and oversee a whole lot of bad basketball. But Thomas' team made the biggest plays down the stretch, getting big offensive rebounds and key defensive stops while holding the Heat to only three baskets in the final eight minutes.

"It's definitely a gut-check game for us," Thomas said. "It wasn't pretty, but we were able to grind and hang."

Beforehand, Thomas praised Riley, saying, "Guys like Riley and (Phil) Jackson, you marvel at their perseverance and strength, and we as young coaches aspire to be what they are. If there was a Mount Rushmore of basketball, their faces would be carved in the mountain."

If they used Riley's face these days for that pose, it would have a haggard look, with some disgust mixed in. Crawford (22 points) added to Riley's unhappiness by hitting four foul shots in the final 19 seconds - as the Heat was forced to foul - to seal the win.
maybe its just me but it does seem like things are clicking a bit for them now , they came from behind and took a victory they could have very easily lost ....they lost a game that was very similar early in the season to the heat in which they made all the clutch shots and got the tough rebounds...except this time it was the knicks that got the job done.

Yeah Jamal! I think this is a good idea. Crawford is a good presence at the PG spot. He helps the team win and he has a good shooting percentage right now.

I like what Jamal is doing so far with this team, he seems to have a lot more leadership skills than Steph when running that position. Hopefully we can save our season and keep playing well.
