Just To Clarify...
Since things have obviously gotten a tad bit out of control, I think I should take a moment to address the previous post titled "Why Not Trade for Greg Oden?" I WAS NOT SERIOUS. Let me repeat that again, I WAS NOT SERIOUS, LOL!!!
Since the trade deadline passed, board activity has been relatively dead. More than anything, I just wanted to get a little conversation started and branch into other aspects of basketball. The title alone should have given you enough of a hint about the nature of the post. Oden is a potential superstar so no team is really going to give him up; signing him will be the only realistic option. Other things I did want to talk about. Certain aspects of the post I do still stand by. I still question Oden's health. Would that affect people's value of him? I also was curious to see what people felt about the Blazers are there future without their star player. We don't normally see teams as young as Portland do the things they have done on a normal basis. I think they have something special brewing there. I also wanted to get some conversation started about their other younger players whose future appear to be obscure. Martell Webster is a particular player who I like and would like to get to hear fans opinions about. Darius Miles has hardly been on the news and was wondering what Portland was doing with him. Again, Just a joke, little early April Fool's since I'm going to be away all of next week and Monday. Sorry if I offended anybody. |

Re: Just To Clarify...
^lol.. if someone took offense to your post, they must be really, really sensetive.
Anyway, about Oden. IDK. He is doin' great right now though. Put on ALOT of muscle. He said he will be back much better than ever. With a better jump shot. He is studying tape on players like Howard. And all that. He will be ok. His wrist is fine, his knee will be like 95%+. I really hope he doesn't turn out to be injury plagued. Not just for the Blazers, but the guy is such a great person, and is such a talent, what a waste that would be, ya know? About your question with Miles. He is better, and asked to be activated, but Nate would not do it. Chemistry is too important. Darius quit on us, and seriously was an *** to so many of the fans, and the coaches. Quit in mid games and all that. Then he takes very very long to come back, just eats up the money, and expects the coaches to put him right back in the line-up. Just doesn't happen like that. The Blazers franchise has asked a doctor to evaluate him. If they doctor says his knee is at the point where he won't be able to play in the NBA anymore, then the Blazers can buy him out (for like 18$mil) and have it not count against our cap. But if he signs with another team, and plays in at least 10 games, then it comes back onto our salary cap. So its a tough one. IDK what will happen. Daruis had talent, but his attitude and quitting on the team and the fans, and disrespecting the coaches made him start getting boo'ed by the fans. Even when his face comes up on the screen pre-game or on games and stuff, he gets boo'ed now-a-days. Its kinda funny. ![]() I think Knick fans know a lil' about booing people.

I sure hope no blazer fans took too much offense (I certainly didn't), if it was a joke then it was some pretty gentle humor, if not just remember: "nil illegitimi carborundum" ...

I wouldn't make the trade
Beasley will end up a top 5-7 in the league guy and Olden will be a great center, but no Shaq or Duncan. Those are the only 2 centers that can really turn a team into a great team by what they can do...yeah, I know Duncan plays PF. Put Beasley with Lee and Curry and you have a great scoring front court and a very good rebounding front court. Oden is one position and although he will be a very defender, he won't be a prolific scorer. Myself, I'd rather package Curry with whatever (outside of Lee and this years #1) for another high pick (2-7) in this draft and try to get one of the defensive minded centers available.....provided we wouldn't be able to get Beasley AND Rose....

Re: Just To Clarify...
Maybe no guarantee, but can you actually imagine a worse defensive center than Curry? Curry's good for 20-23 pts....Beasley can get you 25-28 depending on the team around him. Plus, he can get his own shot, and would be a good go-to guy at the end of games. Beasley is a better player for any team than Curry would be. Curry needs to be with a great defensive team that rebounds well from other than the center position.

Re: Just To Clarify...
Yea, Curry is the worst defensive player I've ever seen. The dude got burned by Yao Ming.
You know the saying with the defense and the championships. Why would you value scoring over defense? Granted Oden is one of those once in a generation prospects, even with the nagging health issues. I wouldn't want Curry to stay. His offense is very inconsistent, and that's the only thing he's good for. He turns it over way too much, and he doesn't contribute anywhere else. Maybe he'll make rebounding easier for everyone else. Still, it's not worth it.
