forget mcdyess. you have to go into the season thinking he's not going to be healthy. it was kind of like a couple of years ago when camby got hurt early and the knicks kind of played .500 ball when he was out. all they kept saying was "when camby comes back, we'll be better" "when camby comes back this, when camby comes back that" - i have this strange feeling we'll be hearing that again this year "when dyess comes back, we'll be better". i hope they don't use it as an excuse but if they play under .500 the first half of the year, they may start using the mcdyess line.
i don't want mcdyess to come back just because it will hinder sweets' development. mcdyess may be a better player but i can't see him being anywhere close to a 18 and 8 player coming off of three knee surgeries. let sweets' play and get mcdyess off the books after the season.
the ABSOLUTE worst case scenario would be for mcdyess to come back, drop 20 and 8 and the knicks sign him long-term only for him to get hurt again. and you know layden will sign him long term to make up for the fact that he traded for damaged goods.
