Yeah, I was blacked out...

Yeah, I was blacked out...and not being able to get on the computer to see what you guys been posting has been killing me. I just finished working a couple of doubles, arguing with my girl, and having to take a cab from Queens to Brooklyn at about 2 in the morning was not an easy trick to pull off. I'm glad to see you guys have been on the job posting and keeping things fresh here. It's almost 3 in the morning now, got the AC going and reading what you guys have to say. What did you guys do during the *BLACKOUT OF 2003?*, (Mind you that last phrase sounded very omnimous, lightning was flashing. and you had some canned music.) and how did you guys handle it? I was working doubles and damn near working triples doing my part to keep NY safe. I only had 2 hours sleep since I left my house on the 13th. Later ya'll...

Glad to see you are now safe and that everything is basically back to normal.

Fortunately for me that in the two days I lost power for about an hour 4 times, but for the most part I have been drinking lemonade and watching TV.

lampe article

August 16, 2003 -- Maybe two months. Maybe two years. . . . No one seems to be able to pinpoint, or even provide an educated estimate, of when Maciej Lampe might become a regular contributor in the Knicks' universe. But most - including Lampe himself - seem certain it will come.
"It all depends," said the 18-year-old, 7-0 Lampe, taking a break from a summer camp for about 250 kids at Basketball City right before Thursday's blackout.

"I never played in the NBA," he added. "I don't know how good the guys are."

Trust us on this one: They're pretty good.

"I'm just hoping to work hard every day and we'll see. It all depends on how quickly I develop.

"It might take a month or two years . . . you never know," Lampe added, one day after signing a three-year deal worth an estimated $2.88 million, a contract that had to wait until a buyout agreement could be reached concerning his Euroleague pact with Real Madrid. "It all depends on my game. My goal is to learn as much as I can the first year."

The Knicks, who have stockpiled more size than any other team in the galaxy, were impressed by Lampe's showing in the summer league, especially his time in the Rocky Mountain Revue in Utah, where he was an All-League pick. They were also impressed with his versatility.

But how and when Lampe - a projected lottery pick who dropped to the second round because of the contract issues - will translate that versatility into production is anybody's guess.

"He's such a talented guy and he picks things up real quick, but it's still hard to say," said Herb Williams, one of the Knicks assistant coaches. "He doesn't shy away from working. He picked the offense up real well this summer at two or three different positions. Any time you've got a guy like that, it just depends. He's 18. He's going to make mistakes. But it just depends."

Lampe insisted he never had any doubts about resolving his contract for this season. It was merely a matter of how badly the Knicks wanted him.

But Lampe is certain of one thing: He must produce. Eventually. In New York.

"I have a lot of work to do," Lampe said. "And in New York, you've got to go out and prove every day that you're capable."

Drinking lemonade and watching TV? Man, that's cool. While I was at work all I could think about was some lemonade (spiked with Jack Daniels ) and trying to get some new stuff on Lampe which my man Laydensucks so politely provided. I think as long as Knicks management, the MEDIA, and us fans understand that Lampe is JUST 18, and that he will definitely have his ups and downs, he will be A-OK. All we need to have is a little patince and let this KID do his thing...

Have you read the quotes from this guy? This guy is obviously highly intelligent, speaks very well, and if you didn't know better just from listening to this guy, you would think that he is older than he actually is. That's what's going to get him in trouble with the media. He speaks so well, and says all the right things about working hard, they're going to forget pretty quickly he's 18. Anyway I hope that everybody made it thru thr blackout all right, and lets get back to posting...I just got off work,, watching the Jets and getting my drink on right now...later...
