Case gym Tuesday at 7pm. Will be a good conference road test against BU. Need to play with the same level of intensity on defense as Albany game and take care of the basketball on offense. Our big men will be key in this game- they need to step up when Irving/Watson get into the lane (which they will, let's not pretend they won't) and on offense hopefully we can get shots inside and wear down the Terriers. Need to make sure Papale and Robinson are defended closely as well from 3.

Should be a good game. Sam- don't know yet whether I can grab food/beer before the game. Our nanny is out of the country right now so I might be going with the fam. Will let you know. We should do that at some point though, it's pretty long overdue at this point.

Just got back from Case. Congrats go to the Terriers who outplayed us pretty much the entire game after the two 3pt makes by Papale and Irving that brought the Terriers back in the first half.

BU had a lot of energy and were very active and really utilized their big advantage in terms of quickness, while never allowing us to utilize our size advantage. They did a great job in their zone and made us really uncomfortable and sped us up. Great coaching/planning job by Jones IMO.

Look at the box. We shot 15-55 from the floor. 5-25 from 3. This team never wants to take 25 3s. That's exactly how a good zone beats you. We were lucky to be in the game shooting 27%, which we were for the most part up until like the last 40 sec. When we did get the ball inside, we didn't finish at all. Can't count how many times I watched a big man have a shot roll around the rim and fall out. 3 of our starters- Apfeld/Voelkel/Rusin shot 0-19 FG in the game, yet somehow we were still in it. That's kinda amazing in its own.

For BU, Irving was the closer in the second half and Dom Morris probably had one of his best games of his career. Tonight was the best I've ever seen him play. He was really great at finishing down low. Looks night and day when he was a Fr-SO. Watson was ok but hit a huge 3 for BU towards the end of the game. But BU really won with defense tonight- their D was outstanding. That's probably the best defensive effort I've seen BU play post- John Holland senior year when they won it.

Anyways, tough opponent on the road and we certainly weren't going to win them all- not a bad loss. Time to regroup and on to the next one.

I didn't really understand the four guard lineup in the second half at times. BU still broke the guards down to get to the hoop or kick out for a couple of dagger threes near the end. Get the ball down low more! We gotta have more O'Day and Crenca from what I can see. Shooters are just way too streaky to rely on an outside game for 30-35 minutes.

Our defense was pretty soft tonight overall- especially on the interior. I thought we actually did a good job guarding BU on the perimeter but we would let up and they would find the open man- which was usually Morris- inside. Irving and Papale were left open in the first half and hit 3s but that was really the only time the Terriers got anything open.

All the big men need to focus on finishing around the hoop. Missing some of those shots tonight are unacceptable at the D1 level- bottom line.

Need to get Apfeld finishing around the hoop again, he's gotten too comfortable settling for jump shots (which he's made this season- though not tonight) and need to get him finishing at the hoop like he was last season.

We need the Apfeld back that does this:

I have a feeling this is how the season will be for BU. As Dom Morris goes, so go the Terriers.

All is know is from the post-game interview, and they said Travis lost TEETH (not tooth!) and he was in a lot of pain. The coaches were joking with him that he'd be no problem for Saturday, but I'm not sure Travis bought it. Hopefully he'll be back, we need him.

Sam's game story mentioned Dieudonne sustained a concussion in practice, which can be bad news for any player - as we saw with DJ last year. I hope it's not serious.

Apfeld seems to have been out of it tonight. There was a play taking the ball out of bounds when BU was pressing and there seemed to be a miscommunication between Apfeld/O'Day on who was taking the ball out- I thought we were going to turn it over.

The press really worked for BU tonight. They played really good situational basketball- and we didn't.

Voelkel seemed to be out of it tonight as well. 5 turnovers, and one of them was just losing the ball dribbling with nobody around him in the corner and then a couple others he just lost. It was weird. Very un-Voelkel like night.

I thought our guards- with the exception of Candon who obviously struggled and had his worst game of the season- did real well overall. Sandro was great, Blue played well, and Elbaum played solid although he didn't really do anything on offense.

The problem was our forwards:

Apfeld 0/5
Voelkel 0/4
Rugg 3/10
O'Day & Crenca 2/5

Can't really criticize O'Day- I wish he would have played more. Rugg/Apfeld/Voelkel though...can't shoot combined 3/19.

Maurice Watson finished with 7 turnovers. Knew he struggled but did not realize he turned it over that many times.

If some of our big men had just made some shots- Clancy? Luke? or Candon even shot 3/9 instead of 0-9, who knows.

Non-basketball post, but where the heck are people parking when they come to Case? The parking lot across the street is all torn up. Certainly doesn't make me want to hurry back for a game if I have to circle the side streets for meter spots. Perhaps that's one of the reasons why there were like 25 people at the game tonight.

I recommend parking on Ashford Street next to the construction site. If it's at night or on the weekend, they aren't doing work, and haven't towed yet (knock on wood). Also good, but a bit more of a walk is to park on Pleasant, Babcock or any of the streets in between. There are usually spots.

It's a huge disaster right now down there, but giving yourself a few extra minutes should do the trick.

I'd just like to give a shout out to Sandro Carissimo last night for putting the team on his back and keeping us in the game. I know it was a losing effort but he played so calm and great on offense and really frustrated Watson on defense as well.

Looking at our stats on the season, it's really hard to believe Apfeld and Rugg have almost as many 3pt attempts as Sandro- but that's what it is.

Dom Morris looks to be in the best shape of his career. Looks even lighter than when I saw him play against Northeastern in the season opener. He was moving real well last night- doesn't have as much as the heft as he had previously.

If he stays like that and plays like that he'll be 1st team/2nd team all conference.

Is anyone disappointed that Robinson didnt come back in after losing a tooth. I have seen multiple people keep playing after losing a tooth and they weren't getting paid with a college scholly. I broke a tooth playing once. I did stop playing but it was a pick up game and I needed it fixed asap with prom two days away. He might of had a couple other teeth become loose as well so it might of been more than just losing a tooth. I would of liked the kid to come back without his tooth.

You just don't have any COMMON SENSE - I am glad you're a tough guy but every injury is different. If the kid could play he would have if the Coach/Training Staff didn't think he should then it's out of the players hands.

Now this had me spitting out my coffee...LOL. Too funny, but eerily accurate I'm afraid!
