Welcome back for the 2012-13 season! Newbies VCU and Butler welcome and Charlotte/Temple let's enjoy this final ride! 9 A-10 games will kick us off on Friday, more lines will be posted later tonight. A-10 has 7 home games out of it's 9 on Friday and will be favored to win more than likely 8 of the 9 with the lone exception of Fordham who is +3 @ Texas State.

A Duquesne win tomorrow night would be a sign that they may not tank as much as a lot of people here are predicting. A loss though would be less telling. This team is young and should struggle in the early games.

Chatter among Niner fans is that Braswell is out for Charlotte tonight due to suspension. Seems like the umteenth straight year with suspension or last-minute injuries for our opener.

Without both Braswell and Mayfield (injured ankle), probably the top two players on the team, and Charleston Southern not exactly being a pushover (picked by many to win their league), this is starting to look more like a loss. Hope I'm wrong, as the young talent on the team should be enough to pull it out but rarely seems to lately.

I love how people think a win or a loss in early Nov is "a sign" of good or bad. It might be, but lots of teams improve as the year goes on, or spring upsets early, or their personnel changes, or whatever. Take every win or loss in stride, but don't think that every single loss (or win) this early in the year comes with some deep meaning for the remaining 30 or so games.
