What drivel. No offense to good intent of his thought, but the major reason why we are losing this country is because we are shaping our society and conditioning ourselves to base our functioning on emotion.
You want to end school massacres? Stop paying attention to them. If you are capable, reach out to the victims. But do not let these crazy people dictate our lives.
I agree with the writer. The BE7 announcement could have and should have waited until Monday. Were they that hard up that they had to announce it on a Saturday? No, the world didn't stop because of the shooting and we all continued on with our lives, but things like this that everyone knew about and knew would grab headlines could have waited. It's simple human decency in my book and the BE7 President's exhibited some pretty selfish, boorish behavior.
This is ridiculous...On a micro scale, people cope with grief in different ways: some find solace in the routine of a normal day, while some choose to show their grief in a more demonstrative manner. Why can't we all be different. Similarly, on a macro level, why can't news be broken AND those very same people still be grieving. These are not mutually exclusive ideas. I don't think anyone thought: OMG the BE7 are splitting off...now my respect and grief for the victims and community in Connecticut is somehow diminished
There are probably funerals today. Making the announcement on a day when people in CT are holding funerals would have been better?
I don't really get the connection either way.
