Maybe we can pin this thread...Since I started it I can keep the first post updated with commitments.

Maybe this is a bit early but we are getting reports and tweets of '13 kids being recruited. Probably time for this.

From what I understand, Braley's final 3 were/are Stony Brook, Maine and Hofstra. Hofstra recently signed a wing player,so not sure where they stand with available scholarships? It would not surprise me to see another school get involved late, as Chris is playing very well for PE. I believe he likes Maine and probably would've signed earlier if Leichner was the Head Coach. I think Stony Brook is very much in the picture at this point.

Douse is on the Lee Academy prep team basketball roster. (13 of those 17 are international players.) He's also listed as the no. 2 Maine prospect behind teammate Mohamed Bah (writeup). Maine signing Garet Beal is at no. 4. (And at no. 10 on that list we see 2013 PG Tanner Hyland, brother of Keegan.)

Couldn't find much else, although they'll be playing this weekend (Feb 2-3) in the National Prep Invitational at Rhode Island College, so presumably there'll be more info after that.

Per North Pole Hoops Canada via twitter, Maine has landed a verbal commitment from point guard Troy Reid-Knight 6'1 185 from Ontario. North Pole has ranked him as the 14th best player in the Canadian class of 2013 (this includes Canadians currently enrolled at US prep schools).
He played for Team Canada in the U-18 Fiba World Championships and is labeled as an excellent perimeter defender.

FYI looks like the Hoop Dreams Magazine prep tournament Feb 9 & 10 is going to be played at Curry College in Milton, MA and not Reggie Lewis Center in Boston:

Lee Academy plays at 12pm on Saturday and 10am on Sunday. Vermont Academy (Floras) and Beaver Country Day (Spellman) are also in the tournament. Brewster Academy is as well, and they are like watching a Big East or ACC college team.

Lee Academy won both of its games this weekend at National Prep School Invitational. Beat TAAG Academy from FL on Saturday and Notre Dame Prep on Sunday.

No idea, everywhere I've seen has just mentioned his teammates, Charles Foster and Aaron Calixte.

Douse isn't a big scorer on this Lee team, and he may not even start (?).

If Douse doesn't start at Lee Academy I'm going to go out on a limb and claim he did NOT have an offer from Clemson. I am by no means trying to defame our future pg but I'm trying manage my expectations. I trust our coaching staff to recruit kids with character but something seems fishy about his list of schools that "offered."

#684 ·
I'd also add that Lee has a pretty good team. Foster was committed to Morehead State previously but they made a coaching change so he went to Lee. Calixte is being recruited by Temple, UMass, and has offers from Q-Pac and Towson. Bah is going to Drexel, another SG from either Serbia or Lithuania is committed to Bradley, and another big kid just committed to Monmouth.

Clemson also recruits Canada closely and I think the most intriguing part of Douse is his size- legit 6'4'' with good athleticism and length.

Douse may start, they could go with a 3 guard lineup of Douse, Foster, Calixte. He may start some games and not others. I don't know, all I know is he's not the one scoring on that team. Makes sense since his job is to be the PG and play maker, but surprised I don't see him mentioned much.

I'm tempering my expectations for the impact of both Douse and Steidl (who is a year younger for his class anyways) on next years team. Hoping both can make an impact right away and get into rotation, but realistically may not be until 2014-15. Douse probably has best chance to crack rotation given his position.

Minutes will be very tough to come by next season. Barring any transfers, it's going to be very competitive to get on the court. Big senior class (who all play) + Harold/Pierson are both eligible and 20mpg+ type players+ Kilpatrick will be a SO w/ a season under his belt in our system+ Taggart will be eligible as a RS FR to play.

Basically, 5 new players next year (Harold, Pierson, Taggart, Steidl, Douse) and only one player (Blue) graduating that sees significant minutes. Good problem to have I suppose.

I've been thinking this for awhile about our two recruits. Both could be very good players but I don't see a will he get his number retired debate with these two. They both will def be contributors as upper classmen. I don't see either getting a lot of minutes freshmen year. I think Douse will get like BK minutes 8 a game. I dont see Steidl playing with the depth at SF. We will have Voelkel, Harold, and BK playing the SF spot. I think BK will see some time at SG. I think we could afford to redshirt Steidl as we have Taggart as an insurancy policy on the wing.

Many of those are from last year. End of the day chose SBU from offers from Maine, Hofstra, James Madison, and interest from Quinnipiac, Duquesne, and Wofford:

NEWPORT, Maine — Chris Braley, the former first-team All-Maine basketball star from Nokomis Regional High School who has spent the last two years at Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, N.H., has made a verbal commitment to continue his playing career at Division I Stony Brook (N.Y.) University beginning this fall, according to his father.

Braley, a 6-foot-4-inch guard-forward, made his decision to accept an athletic scholarship from the Long Island-based America East Conference school Wednesday night, Scott Braley said via email early Thursday afternoon.

Chris Braley subsequently confirmed his choice on his Twitter account.

Braley averaged 25.5 points and 12.7 rebounds as a junior in leading Nokomis to an Eastern Maine Class B tournament berth in 2011, and he subsequently was named first-team All-Maine by the Bangor Daily News.

He then opted to transfer to prep school, reclassifying as a high school junior to attend Phillips Exeter for two more years as an undergraduate.

This winter Braley is a co-captain of the Phillips Exeter basketball team and one of the leading scorers for coach Jay Tilton’s Big Red, who currently sport a 17-1 record as a member of the New England Preparatory School Athletic Conference.

Braley also played last summer for the Massachusetts-based Middlesex Magic AAU basketball team.

Braley had drawn interest from numerous Division I mid-major programs. His most recent offers had come from Stony Brook, Maine, Hofstra, James Madison and Albany, along with continued interest from the likes of Quinnipiac, Duquesne and Wofford.

Braley made his official visit to Stony Brook on Jan. 26-27, the same weekend the Seawolves hosted Maine in a conference game. Stony Brook defeated the Black Bears 79-69 on Jan. 26.

Stony Brook, coached by Steve Pikiell, is 17-5 overall this winter and leads the America East standings with an 8-1 conference record.

Braley is expected to formalize his acceptance of an athletic scholarship from Stony Brook when the National Letter of Intent spring signing period for men’s basketball begins April 17.

His Dad stated his choice was based on academics on the mbr.org site.

N,
Academically, SB has a research hospital and med school on site, the opportunities for internship and hands on research in the area of his study of kinesiology are out of this world.

In another but related subject, we were all very impressed with the athletic academic advisor and her approach to handling the team.
I guess the Ivy's don't offer a Kinesiology major. Why is that?

Lee Academy plays at Brewster Academy this Wednesday. Can't guarantee how much info there will be about Douse, but can guarantee there will be plenty of the usual recruit bloggers/tweets about the game.

Missisquoi senior Matt St. Amour plays in his final regular season game tonight against undefeated Vergennes. Matt is 22 points away from scoring 2,000 points in his high school career. Only five other Vermont players have achieved this milestone: Henry Dalrymple, Matt Johnson, Bernie Cieplicki, Keith Cieplicki, and Josh Albee. Matt's been averaging about 26 points a game and scored 31 last time out against Vergennes.

If he doesn't reach the 2,000 point plateau tonight he will have at least one more game (playoffs). Matt's still deciding about his destination next year. He's considering UVM, Siena, Middlebury, Tufts, and Babson.

Does he have recruiting interest/offers from any of these schools?

Congrats to him on passing the 2000 pt mark!
