This is a huge game for both teams. UMass can't afford a 3rd consecutive loss. With Butler, Dayton, Xavier, and a trip to Kingston ahead they could conceivably finish below .500. The Bonnies are still fighting to make it to Brooklyn. I think they will. Should go right down to the end, and the atmosphere out there will no doubt be intense. If it comes down to a final UM possession Kellogg could try something other than 'give the ball to Chaz and let him, uh, create'. It's probably their highest percentage move, but since they never, ever, try anything else, who really knows that for sure?

It's supposed to bother you Eldon. Came up in another thread around here. I'm immune to that particular needle. z8 bothers me, for obvious reasons. This is no way to represent my alma mater. And Bill Russell really bothers me, because he used to be a good guy and now he's no better than the guy who bothers him. And it bothers me that res doesn't talk to me anymore too. He's still a good guy though.

May the best team win. I think it's UMass, but it's a close call.

Oh - I see - well actually no I don't - who cares? Thanks for the claification bdance

As for you (bdance), it bothers me that you are bothered by Bill Russell who is bothered by z and that this bothering makes Bill Russell act like a person that was not formerly acting like. Res not talking to you is bothersome to me as well, becasue you are bothered by that fact, and that it is also bothering that z "represents" our alma matter in a such a very bothersome way.... I only have one word for that Bothersome...

On to more important things bdance... how's the fishin'!

Ooo, no sir, I had some bad experiences with the whiskey family in my youth. The mere smell of the stuff makes me ill now. Tequila, Rum, Beer, and Wine. That's about it. Oh, and Vodka. And almost forgot my beloved Gin. Used to be a straight Tanqueray and Tonic guy, but lately I've taken to Gin Martinis. Hated the first I tried, but they grew on me fast.

Another thing that bothers me is Fordham. I want to see them in the top half of the league, for the sake of their die hard fans around here. Pretty much everyone else has had at least a taste by now. Come on Fordham, my liver won't last forever!

Your liver? How about my liver? Got back from DC a bit ago and I see the DVR is recording something, it ends up being the tape delay of the game on YES. Of course I have to have a drink to watch the crap I witnessed in person. What has shocked me so far as that with such a small crowed, my voice has not made it through on TV yet.

How is using the official name, one which the school itself uses, the same as someone calling SBU the welders? I don't think SBU ever uses this term to refer to itself.

UMass-Amherst fans are sure sensitive about a name. I however would suggest that they start getting used to it. With UMass-Lowell going D1, it will start to get used much more frequently for athletics.

The attached apparel items (one of which is an varsity athletics program) available for sale on the web have Amherst in the name.

Looking forward to the matchup, Gentlemen, and z8. I'll probably pour a couple of Glenmorangies as I sit back tonight to hopefully enjoy this one. As res points out, Bill will be pouring rye. Not sure about res. The difference is, I'll be putting the kids to bed afterwards, and falling asleep around 10pm. Bill will be still working on the rye and posting here around 2-3am.

Not sure about res.
You should know I'm a gin martini guy. Shaken, stirred, rocks, up, I don't give a rat's ass. Just make sure it's with olives is all I ask.

However, for the last 6 months or so I have put myself on a Tu-Th-F-Sa-Su drinking calendar. Mondays and Wednesdays are dry. Alas, this evening happens to be a Wednesday. I hope to be drunker than a skunk for the weekend games, though.

I'm still new to the Gin Martini. The olives are essential. I'm told I'm supposed to wave a bottle of vermouth near the glass as well. Don't put any in the glass, just wave the bottle. I have to admit I haven't been strictly following that rule so far. I do use the Sapphire now though, so I'm halfway there.

So I think I misread res earlier, Bill Russell is the rye guy. That explains alot.

Please res, not too much vermouth. Reminds me of when we were in Paris a couple of years ago, and they have no clue how to make a martini over there. In fact, I don't think I've been able to get a decent one anywhere in Europe. At one place in Paris, they actually had a "dry martini" on a drink menu. Thought I was in luck. Then, I watched the bartender take the vermouth off the shelf, and just begin pouring it into the shaker. Then, she took the gin, and put much less of that in the shaker. At another fine Parisian restaurant, I asked for a martini, and the waiter inquired as to whether I wanted red or white. I told him I'd have the burgundy.
