I think we will be surprised by who does. Im gonna say Cleveland at 6. There is new ownership and everyone knows Weedon isnt that teams future Also going into the 2nd i think we will see a run on QB at the start. Barkley/Manuel/Nassib/Glennon/Wilson will all go right next to each other because once one goes the other will follow with teams that want them

Re: 2013 NFL Scouting Combine Thread
WR Talk
On the whole I'm pretty disappointed in the difference between the Official and Non-official times. They are pretty significant in some cases, too many sleepy scouts at the WR drills. Tavon Austin comes in at 5-9 174lbs, runs a 4.34 40 (4.25 unofficial), and had a 32 inch vertical. Should solidify his stuck with this output, maybe not as "wow" as you thought it may have been, but it at least validates what you see on tape. Marcus Davis 6-3 233lbs is real size, 4.56 40 (4.4 flat unofficial) is solid given his size, and 39.5 inch vertical puts him at a 3 way tie for 1st in WR class). Worth noting, also had the 2nd biggest hands of any WR. Denard showed up in a big way, but I already mentioned him. Justin Hunter probably made himself some money at the combine. 6-4 196lbs, 4.44 40 time (4.41 unofficial) shows off his straight-line speed, and really killed it in the jumping drills. 39.5 inch vertical tied him for best in WR class, and his broad jump was best in class (136, 2nd had a tie for 132). Cordell Patterson solidified his WR standing with a solid outing, 6-2 215lbs is good size, 4.42 40 time (4.37 unofficial) shows off good speed, and a 37 inch vertical is certainly impressive. Robert Woods showed up alright, acceptable numbers all around but nothing that stands out. Marquise Goodwin had the best 40 time of the WR class, 4.27 official time (4.25 unofficial) is blazing fast. Only 5-9 183lbs, solid broad jump (tied for 2nd best in WR class), but opted out of measuring his vertical which was a little disappointing. I suppose if he knows he isn't jumping out of the gym there isn't much of a point since you blew away all of the other running and jumping drills.

Re: 2013 NFL Scouting Combine Thread
Come on bro. A tenth of a second is way too brief to criticize. If they were off by like half a second, then there's a problem. If anything, this just shows how we can't rely on old combine times to compare across eras.

Re: 2013 NFL Scouting Combine Thread
I never gave a crap about 40 times, because it's usually a distraction. It's a lot better if a guy is fast, but it doesn't mean anything if you can't play football.
I just don't think Geno should be drafted that high either. He's way too much of a crap shoot in my opinion. It is true that KC needs a QB, but from what I have seen Geno is really erratic and in my opinion he only looks good when his receivers are a lot more open than NFL receivers usually are. There's something of a chance that he'll be a starting quality QB, but the odds aren't good enough IMO.

He's an accurate passer, has good enough arm strength to make NFL throws, and showed solid mobility to boot. If you don't think he's going to be a Pro Bowler that's fine, but what about him makes you think he isn't going to be a Top 32 QB?

Re: 2013 NFL Scouting Combine Thread
They should be closer, and it's not exactly rocket science. There are some differences between the two that are pretty significant, nearly .2 different. It's obviously impossible to have 100% accuracy with the non-official times, but at the same time there's a big difference in a 4.52 and a 4.4, you can see it when you watch people run the drills. I remember going to combines at UW-Madison, NDSU, and a D2 combine in Northern Iowa. I had a buddy who was a pretty highly recruited WR and I tagged along on his mid-west combine travels. You can see the difference in a 4.52 and a 4.4 (either in their 1st step out of the blocks, or how quickly they can generate that speed aka burst) but I wouldn't ever criticize somebody for being like .04...that's as much as you can ask for.

Re: 2013 NFL Scouting Combine Thread
Kevin Minter 4.82. I guess he plays faster on field or on tape. I still like him for Ravens among others in rd 1.
Alec Ogletree 4.62. Maybe his arrest will make him slip to us He was another I liked if he somehow slipped. Kevin Reddick 4.81. Never liked him much as a football player though. thought he was supposed to be speedy. Manti Te'o 4.81. Last edited by Dissonance; 02-25-2013 at 10:59 AM. |
