Somehow, I really don't think the coach was the problem.
After the owner, the coaching is the biggest problem for this franchise. He never stressed defense, as his team was always worst defensive team in the league. Remember the 147-161 loss to Denver? That's a prime example right there. It's not ability, it's attitude. If Larry Brown was coach, they would never give up 161.
Presti has been great for this franchise, because he's done what he's supposed to do since day 1. His job wasn't to make this team competitive; it was to cut costs to prepare for 2 lame-duck seasons in Seattle. The team has the lowest payroll in the league, and their best player is on a rookie contract. Realistically, Clay Bennett wouldn't want it any other way.
How they're actually gonna convince players to play in OKC is different. A max contract from the Knicks is very different from a max contract from Bennett.
