Francis in the fourth
Quote:
Francis among best in 4th
Francis ranks second behind Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers in points scored in the fourth quarter, according to the Elias Sports Bureau statistics.
In games played through Thursday night, Bryant averaged 8.6 points in the final quarter (31 games), and Francis 7.2 (40 games).
Allen Iverson of the Philadelphia 76ers was third (7.2 points) and Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks was fourth (7.0).
Rockets guard Tracy McGrady -- the centerpiece of the deal last summer that brought Francis to Orlando from Houston -- was fifth in points scored in the fourth quarter at 6.9.

Not much of a surprise here. Thats a pretty good group of guys - Francis, Kobe, Tmac, AI, and Dirk - to have the ball in their hands at the end.

That's pretty interesting. I'd like to see those guys field goal percentages in the 4th quarter.

His clutch statistics are pretty solid. A much higher usage/scoring rate, at the cost of some efficiency.

Yeah he's always pretty good in the clutch. He shoots 37.3% which may not seem good until you consider guys like T-Mac shoot 32.8% and Kobe 23.7%.

Ouch, Kobe at 23.7%. That is pretty nasty. What is the context of that percentage?

I believe it's when there is less than 5 minutes to go in the game with neither team up by more than 5 points.

It's just his straight FG% when it's the 4th quarter or overtime, with less than 5 minutes left, and neither team ahead by more than 5 points.
