Hill wants to ride Dwight's coattails
Grant hopes to be around to 'ride Dwight's coattails'
Quote:
Hill laughed and returned to his locker.
"I'm sure we'll get it down better the more we play together," he said.
An impish grin crossed the 19-year-old Howard's face.
"I got another 20 years," he said. "You'll be, what, about 48 then?"

By the time Howard has three full seasons on his résumé, he will be about 211/2 . Hill will be 34, turning 35 before Howard begins his fourth season.

"I have a 42-year-old ankle, but a 29-year-old body," Hill said.

So what do you think? Dwight in his 4th year, Hill will be 35 yrs old. Can he still contribute well enough then? Some real high praise from Hill for Dwight.

Re: Hill wants to ride Dwight's coattails
I think Grant will still be effective when he's 35 or so, and a big part of that will the fact that he's developed one of the best midrange games in the NBA while he was out so long with his ankle injuries. Once his athleticism fades away (even more than it already has) he'll still have that jumper. He won't be an all-star anymore by that time, but he can still be a starter in my opinion, or at least a good 6th man. I think he'll be a quality role player until he retires.

I pretty much agree... Hill hasn't relied too much on his athleticism this year. Particularly in the first part of the season where he was putting up good numbers but didn't even have his legs enough to dunk.
I actually think Hill could play another 2-3 seasons at the level he is now and the next couple I think he can actually be better than this season. If he can work on his conditioning and ball-handling this summer, he can be even better next year. Of course, as long as the ankle stays solid.

Ron Harper v. 2.0 on another championship level team at that age. He may be older but coming off the bench or even playing 25 minutes a night, he's still a contributor.

Re: Hill wants to ride Dwight's coattails
Excluding another major ankle injury I could see Grant Hill playing alongside Dwight Howard for the next 3-4 seasons no problems.

Yep, pretty much the role everyone expected Hill to play this year. I think it's safe to say he's exceed those expectations.
