Game thread - Orlando Magic vs Dallas Mavs 2/25/03
We're going to play the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday. It's going to be an enormous test for our new additions on the roster. Drew Gooden and Gordan Gricek will have a big test infront of them. We already know that McGrady is going to perform up to expectations and maybe he'll be clutch like the New Jersey Nets game during that 4th quarter blow-out. I feel that Tracy has tooken his effort and leadership on this team up to another level and maybe he's going to surprise us all again and be in the zone. He says that he's feeling good and judging by his past 2 performances we can count on a big game from him. I am hoping that Drew Gooden will be a help in the post-game down low even though Mavs have that huge Shawn Bradley guy and thank god Dirk Nowitzki isn't that much of a post-up player anyways so it's not like we can say we have a PF post-up matchup problem either.
I honestly can't say deep down I feel we're going to win this game. Hopefully it'll be a close one and we won't be teared apart because Dallas has so many offensive weapons it isn't even funny. Anyways let's just hope for the best result!
Go Magic!

Yea, I really can't see the Magic win this game. But that doesn't mean it can't happen. This is a game where the Magic get exposed inside and show that even after the trade, they are still very weak in the post. Bradley and Nowitzi provide huge matchup problems. McGrady vs. Finley will be an interesting battle. Hopefully they can pull this one out, but it looks very tough.

Hmmmm, I disagree about Nowitzki giving a match-up problem though. If he was the average power forward who has a post up game then yeah but he isn't totally like that and he is an outside shooting PF and he doesn't take it down low as often enough to become a problem for Gooden. Gooden is energetic enough to cover Nowitzki tight to atleast not let him destroy us. Finley and McGrady will offcourse be one of the deciding match-ups but it's pretty obvious who will be the better of the two.
We have to keep Shawn Bradley and Steve Nash limited, they are the biggest problems in this game if you ask me.

Gooden Vs. Nowitski Advantage Dallas
Giricek Vs. Finley Advantage Dallas
TMac Vs. Who cares Anvantage Orlando
Vaughn Vs Nash Advantage Dallas
Kemp Vs. Lafrenz Advantage Dallas (slight)
I think thought that this is a close game, Dallas by 12 Nowitski hits for 23 to lead the Mavs. McGrady Leads all scorers with 37.

Hopefully we can win or at least only lose by a few points to keep the confidence high. We've got some easy teams comin up after this so another chance to get a winning streak going.

Yeah and and the current level of play we're at judging from the past 2 games, I wouldn't be surprised if we pull out an upset tonight. McGrady is extremelly motivated from what I read on Orlando's newspaper and T-Mac isn't joking around anymore, he has lost his boy and he counts it to be his fault for not making the team better and that cost Mike Miller's trade. I believe he will have a big game tonight.
We're in for a heck of a ride tonight, Go Magic!

Looks like Gooden is lighting it up so far. I bet Tmac goes for 40.

Magic Win! 98-93; It shows you winning match-ups doesn't always equal winning the game.

Go ahead and keep hating on the Magic, South Stunna. The fact is, like it or not we're one of the hottest teams ever since the trade deadline expired and McGrady is taking a leadership role that he has never tooken before. Our new guy Giricek is playing fantastic basketball putting up points that even Mike Miller didn't put up regularly. Giricek and Gooden combined scored 40 points last night, that is such a big help you have no idea how rare that is compared to before. Before in able to even have a shot to beat the Mavs, McGrady would have to have a 40+ game.
These guys are awesome, Mark my words. We're going to enjoy this ride with the rookie's, we're in for a completely different type of ball club with an even better team and even better McGrady.

Wow, I am very suprised at the victory but of course, very happy. Magic are now 3-0 since the trade. Definately paying the dividends.
