Game thread - Magic vs Nuggets 3/9/03
I'm looking forward to this game. We're coming off our first real lost (besides the overtime lost to the Knicks again) and I'm just so curious to see how we're gonna perform. Nuggets are comming of a win against the Heat last night and this is gonna make it a back-to-back road game for them, we should take advantage of that and try and see how McGrady will be able to punish them. They are a young team, Gooden will have his hands full with Hillario even though Drew is the better out of the two in my oppinion.
I think Sunshine Network here in Miami will be showing the game, so maybe I'll be able to bring you guys a full match report if I catch it tonight at 6 PM Eastern.

Its going to be a tougher game than you'd expect. The Nuggets play harder than anyone in the L IMO. They know they aren't the most talented, so they beat you with relentless hustle.
Gooden vs Hilario- I know Gooden has done very well since the trade, but Hilario is well..........damn. Hilario is very fast for a PF/C. His speed, size, and athleticism will present problems for Gooden. Plus they also have Howard upfront, whom is better than Kemp. Id give a slight edge to Denver upfront, bec. they also have Camby waiting in the wings.
But backcourt- Different story. You kill them. They wont have anyone to stop TMac, but that wont stop them from trying.
Overall, Magic will win. But the Nuggets will play for 48 minutes, diving, hustling, rebounding, etc. They will not go away. They play with a ton of heart.

I was surpsied at how much heart the Nuggets played with the Heat, but they had problems at some time guarding guys like Caron Butler and even Rasual Butler so that gives me alot of hints that maybe McGrady will be able to tear them apart with those jump shoots he makes. He can penetrate and kick it to Giricek and Garrity and that's one thing I look forward to us punishing Denver with. That's one advantage I feel that can really benefit us in this game.
Gooden is better then Hillario, in my oppinion. Hillario has alot of talent but he doesn't develop as quick as Drew does and Gooden is more of a scoring contributor then Nene. Nene might be as good as him when it comes to overall talent, but Drew is the better player right now.
Overall, I think it should be a clean Magic win. I just don't think the Nuggets will give us that much of a challenge because not only are we at home and the Nuggets are coming off a hard faught win against the Heat, but we've got way too many shooters for them to handle! Yes, I believe w/o a doubt that the Magic will win. You saw how Kobe torched the Nuggets, I expect Tracy will do the same. But I dont expect the Nuggets to roll over w/o a fight. They will keep at it with relentless heart, hustle, and determination. As far as Hilario vs Gooden goes, Hilario's combination of speed, size, and athleticism will cause Gooden problems.
Yes, Gooden is more polished as of now, but Hilario is still going to give Gooden fits. Just my opinion; we'll have to wait til game time to see(which you'll have to tell me, since I wont be able to see it.) I will get on AIM in in probably a few hours(2-3). I have to go run a few errands for some things I need for school, etc. But I will be back on AIM today. Whats your SN?

Hopefully we can bounce back from our last game against the Knicks. Shud be a close game and i think T-Mac will score over 35 points.

I predicted it right! I knew that Tracy McGrady was gonna blow out and destroy the Nuggets because their defense in the backcourt isn't all that special and Kobe Bryant proved it about a few weeks ago. McGrady balled them up today and had 43 pts, trough three quarters. I knew it wasn't going to be a tough game, unlike some of you guys who predicted it would be a harder game then expected. (Vintage)
Anyways who cares, we won!
