Keep your head up, guys!
I'm gonna be honest and say besides Drew Gooden and Gordan Giricek little run that help us alot for a couple of weeks, we've really had a dissapointing season. We haven't seen much heart and desire to get far in the playoffs. Grant Hill's injury really hurt us again and it made us put our head down and think about our future again. This is really dissapointing, we are probably one of the most unluckiest teams in the league. But, after watching last night's game against the Pacers, I realized we really do have alot of young guns with potential. Hear me out for a little bit:
Steven Hunter is starting to develop into the center we need. So, that means in this upcomming draft we won't need to worry with a bigman. The question is does Doc Rivers have enough confident in Hunter to make a commitment and have him as our center for now, the future and watch him develop? Personally, I am more then willing to do that. He is reaching his best and is starting to show maturity for the game, and has shown some skills. Last night his stat line was really impressing getting 10 pts, 7 rebounds and 5 blocks. That's really a sign of improvement when you do this when you are playing against the Pacers and Jermaine O'Neal. Hunter's really got me on his side, now. We should also remember technically Hunter is almost a rookie now, this is his second season in the league and he missed the first 30 games due to knee surgery. Give him credit where it's due, he's still young and is getting ready to blossom.
Gordan Giricek, on the other hand doesn't play like a rookie at all. He can create his own shot, which is such a big thing with the Orlando Magic. Before we got this guy, besides T-Mac not even Mike Miller could have created his own shot. Offcourse, Darell Armstrong can do this to a certain extent but let's be honest how often do we see DA take a shot? right. Giricek can shoot from outside, inside, post-up and he can drive it to the hoop and get to the foul line. He's earned my respect and confidence, one thing I dislike about him is sometimes he tries to do to much and doesn't just let T-Mac finish it, but I feel that's a good sign for the future things to come from this youngster.
Drew Gooden, well what can you say. We've all seen the reason why he was the #4 pick of the draft. He can do it all, from rebounding to posting up to scoring when you need it. He plays with his heart, hussles and for a power forward he isn't that big either. Gooden has really shown when given minutes and having T-Mac on his team, he has alot of upside to his game and will provide alot of key things to this team. He is a very valuable asset to this team.
Lastly, Grant Hill. This guy is going to give it one last shot, how about we lighten up and just give him the last chance? If he fails then it is goodbye, but one more last chance of supporting and trying to show him we believe in him won't hurt will it?
Go Magic!
