Center? + Just get big

I say at center, the Magic have four viable options. Preferably in this order.

Nazr Mohammed
Greg Ostertag
Jerome James
Scott Williams

Mohammed, you'd have to trade Miller, Reid, and Sasser to make it work capwise. Doubt if anyone would mind.

Ostertag, he's overpaid, but for Garrity, Buechler, and Declerq, so what, doesn't cost you much.

Jerome James, median exception, but Ostertag is better, just way overpaid, and with him, he could go anywhere for the median.

Scott Williams, he's cheap enough, worth whatever you pay for him, but he has to be in a platoon, he'll only play about twenty minutes.

I'd go with the Mohammed + Ostertag, just because you'd be giving up Miller and Garrity respectively. The rest is just names. It also fits cap wise.

None of those guys is worth losing Miller. Let alone Miller and Garrity. Miller and Garrity are very valuable because those are the guys that can stand around the perimeter and nail 3s when Hill and Tmac are doubled.

I think Hell will freeze over before Ostertag is ever in Orlando.

I think they should do this:

Let Troy Hudson walk.
Sign Smush Parker for <1 mil a year for a couple years
Sign Olumide Oyedeji for a couple mil a year
Try and sign Jerome James, but not at too much. I doubt Orlando could get him though.

In that case, sign Mario Kasun.
Sign Oakley for 1 yr at vet minimum

So they'd have Garrity, Humphrey, Hunter, Kasun, Oakley, Oyedeji at the bigs..

but this only happens if Grant and Ewing both retire.

true about ostertag

he won't be in orlando, but he could, and I doubt if they sign smush parker, especially for a million a year, he's averaged 4 assists and 4 turnovers, the assists will go down and the turnovers will go up in the league, steal 3 a game was great, but that will be cut in half too, he's not going to be effective in his first year, too much flair

Olumide Oyedeji, i'd love to see orlando sign him, and let Troy Hudson go.

You're right about James.

Kasun is a poor mans Nowitski, which isn't bad, but he's a forward, and Hunter, hopefully it's a mistrail, because so far, as a jury member, he's going down for the charge of fraud, lol

if they do as you say, Olumide Oyedeji would get major minutes at center, him and Declerq

and losing Miller for Mohammed is more than worth it

As long as Hill is healthy, it is almost certain he is going to get minutes at point. So my thinking was Orlando could let Hudson go (since he's gonna want at least 2-3 mil a year).. and save some money there.

If Hill plays PG minutes, then Armstrong would back him up to the tune of probably 20-25 mins a game. So unless there is foul trouble, Parker would rarely be need for big minutes and they could develop him for the future. (I dont see how he is any worse than Keyon Dooling who people rave about).

They need to sign Oyedeji. He plays like a poor man's Ben Wallace and is still very young. He could possibly turn into Ben Wallace in a couple years.

Kasun plays like a forward, but could log minutes at center, especially in the East.

I like James ability, but I think Orlando will be outbid. I think Mohammed is a good player, but he hasnt done anything consistently really. Miller is good for 15 ppg, 4 apg, 4 rpg for the next 10 years, at the very least.

I think Orlando may actually get a tab bit better at the bigs this season.

And people forget.. if Grant Hill is ACTUALLY healthy, he is the biggest free agent acquisition (except maybe McDyess) for any team this offseason.

Let's not save our Cap Space Forever

Why don't we just go after Keon Clark? At least offer the mid level exception --- Toronto may not even match. Keon can play 4 and 5.

Keon is overrated.

He plays pretty soft. He isnt the shotblocker people make him out to be. He isnt a tough, under the basket force that Orlando needs.

I'd rather have Oyedeji and pay him 1 mill than Clark and pay him 4-5 mil..

agree on kasun playing like a forward on offense but he defends the post pretty well from what i've seen.i like this guys upside,he just does little things you cant teach.
