Re: Can't Wait Until Next Year
If you were a scout seeing those Darko highlights (music is pretty crappy) - where do you think Darko would go in this year's draft? I'd say most definitely Top 5 and could go anywhere before that ... Toronto, Chicago, Portland, Charlotte, Atlanta all need a center and Darko is more of a center than Bargnani and probably Aldridge as well.

Re: Can't Wait Until Next Year
Darko looks good in the clips. You can definitely see why Dumars drafted him 2nd overall, if only in glimpses. Of course, with hindsight you wouldn't and it's almost impossible to form an opinion without subconciously taking into account what the '03 draft has achieved.
Darko has good feet, great instincts and decent athleticism all in a big frame. He has some great spin moves in the video, and shows some of his quickness and range.
Straight out of Europe, without knowing how Darko has faired in the NBA thus far, I could definitely see him go top 5.
He's still as talented as he was in '03.

Re: Can't Wait Until Next Year
nice find. i think my favorite clip is where the one guy in red drives against darko, takes 3 almost 4 steps and STILL gets capped.

I think he would go number 1 or 2. Not the franchise player but man he is soo good, and would be a 15, 8, 3 type guy

Re: Can't Wait Until Next Year
Watching all that and from what I've seen of Bargnani, you'd think Darko would be considered a better prospect than Andrea. He's a better shotblocker and better moves around the post, whereas Bargnani has better shooting. I'd say Toronto would seriously be considering him, but he could fall down to 5 (that would be the lowest).
My favourite play in that clip, starts at 3:29

Lets wait and see what we potentially gave up.
Otis Smith looked like a steal too. Until the draft pick owed turned into the 2nd overall and Detroit selected Darko. Not so simple to judge.

Re: Can't Wait Until Next Year
Darko still has so much potential it's ridiculous. Everything said about him in 03' that made him the 2nd pick overall, still applies today. Height, length, athleticism, jumpshot, passing, post game, shotblocking... At 20, Darko still has time to be a great player. He was brought into a very bad situation in Detroit, but I think the past 2 years are only going to motivate him to succeed as a Magician.
