I was wondering if Darko was this good defensively before he was drafted, or did he learn a lot from playing Ben Wallace and the Pistons in practice?

He has always been a good shot blocker, as this comes natural to him considering his length and timing. One-on-one he has great foot work to go along with quickness to be able to stay infront of his opponent. In limited time with he averged almost 2bpg while over in Europe. However, playing with a great defender like Big Ben and Sheed' I'm sure he picked a few lessons.

He wasn't a very good rebounder but even in the little court time he got you could see that he was a dominate shot blocker.

But when you first got him, was he good at staying with his man and keeping his hands up? It seems very rare to draft a European player thats really good defensively.

Yeah, he actually was. He's very quick. When he came out, they were saying he's quick enough defensively to guard even SF's.
