Magic re-sign Bo Outlaw

Its embedded in a greater article about Nick Anderson's return to Orlando.

Quote:
Bo knows hoops

Forward Bo Outlaw, 35, might be slowing down, but he still has value to the Magic -- especially off the court. It's what he brings to the locker room, and to the practice facility, setting an example for many young guys on the roster.

The Magic will sign him to a new contract for much the same reason that the Indiana Pacers traded for Darrell Armstrong this summer -- chemistry.

"Don't ever underestimate how important good chemistry is to your team,'' Pacers Coach Rick Carlisle said at a charity golf event in Orlando. "When you get it, you want to keep it.''

Although Outlaw doesn't figure prominently in any playing rotation -- unless the team is wrecked by injuries -- he will be an inexpensive insurance policy at forward.

We all know what Bo has to offer as a basketball player, but more importantly as a leader. It appears this will be our team.

Your 2006-2007 Magic team.
pg: Jameer Nelson / Carlos Arroyo / Travis Diener
sg: Keith Bogans / JJ Redick / Keyon Dooling
sf: Hedo Turkoglu / Grant Hill / Trevor Ariza / Pat Garrity
pf: Darko Millic / Bo Outlaw / James Augustine / Pat Garrity
c: Dwight Howard / Tony Battie

Re: Magic re-sign Bo Outlaw

Is that your projected Starters and bench rotation......because there is no way Bo is the first power forward off the bench.

Re: Magic re-sign Bo Outlaw

It's pretty much going to be Dwight, Darko, and Battie playing almost all of the minutes for hte PF/C.

No, this is just the roster. I don't expect Bo to play much minutes at all. I'm with Hairy Midget in believing Dwight, Darko and Battie will play the majority of the minutes at PF and C. However, I expect Augustine to be sent to the NBDL, so this would leave Darko, Dwight, Battie, Bo and Garrity as the only real options at the position.

Re: Magic re-sign Bo Outlaw

Outlaw should be a great mentor to Dwight and Darko. Adding veteran leadership, especially if the signing does not limit the team financially, is always favourable.

Re: Magic re-sign Bo Outlaw

The great thing about Bo, like the end of last year, is he can not play for 3 or 4 games and then come in and be a real spark for 5-6 mins during a game and really turn things around. Good to have him back.

It seems like the organization is trying to set an example by bringing back and involving many of the players of the past. I wouldn't be surprised to see Darrell Armstrong back with the organization once he is done playing.
