Point Guard Rankings

20. Jameer Nelson, Orlando: A born leader, Nelson is making the Magic his team. It's no wonder he quickly gained everyone's respect, carrying himself with a quiet confidence and displaying a fantastic work ethic.

Yet another pathetic attempt by Sportsline.com to rank players. Jameer should at least be above francis, felton, harris (not even the starter, no matter how minutes he gets... you shouldn't rank a 6th man higher than a starter... just doesn't make sense to.)

Re: Point Guard Rankings
The ranking is low, I would rank him somewhere in the range of 14-18. I'm not sure if I would place him above Felton or Francis, but certainly above Harris, Ridnour and James.

Agreed ralaw. However I'm not so sure about Ridnour, they'd be the same tier if you ask me. I like Ridnour's game. Harris and James are well below Jameer.

Yeah, I've like Ridnour's game since his days at Oregon, but you're probably right. I believe him and Nelson are interchangeable. Neither has really seperated themself above the other.

Mike James is coming off of a huge year.....and he did it all season long. That being said I would take Nelson over James any day....but for the ranking I can see why he is ahead of Jameer....Harris should not be.

True, however is Mike James really a point guard or a chucker? Is he a first option as he believes? He had a good season, yes, but was his play correlated to the Raptors lack of success?
I can understand why he could be placed above Nelson, but I don't agree with it. If you look at his stats from last season it tells only half the story. For a point guard of my team he probably doesn't distribute enough. He's a threat from downtown, but I didn't see enough ball movement from a 2nd or 3rd option. I'd never want James to be the 1st option on my team. His ego can be seen as a positive and negative. No team on the rise wants a 31 year old point guard who thinks he's hitting his prime and should be the first option.

Re: Point Guard Rankings
^ If you notice...I said I would take Jameer over James any day.....I agree with what you said....but you can't take away 20 ppg and over 6 dimes.....If we revisit the the rankings at seasons end, and Nelson has put an entire season together the way he finished last season, then he will rise up the rankings.....the same could be said for James....if he carries over what he did with Toronot(I doubt it), he will remain or rise from where he is now.

Yeah, I noticed that you agreed I was just explaining why I held my opinion as such.
James won't have the opportunity to dominate the ball in Minnesota. Although KG is unselfish, I can't see James taking so many shots as a third option. He'll be a great option from three so that the defense doesn't collapse or double team Garnett constantly, but he won't be able to dribble around and shoot. Ricky Davis will be the second option.
I don't believe James will have the opportunity to score as much with the Wolves, and I don't see his point guard skills as being great. He'll still score, but I don't think he'll keep up his Toronto production.

Re: Point Guard Rankings
How is Mike James a chucker? He shot 7.3/15.5 and 2.1/4.8 from behind the arc. That's not very chuckerish at all. Jameer will be better though
