Free Agent Market
Here are some of the guys available at each position, who do you guys think we should target?
*=restricted free agent
PG:
Jason Kidd
Gilbert Arenas
Gary Payton
Andre Miller*
Jason Terry*
Darrell Armstrong
Antonio Daniels
SG:
Richard Hamilton*
Corey Maggette*
Jon Barry
Raja Bell
Jimmy Jackson
Felipe Lopez
Lucious Harris
SF:
Lamar Odom*
Scottie Pippen
Stephen Jackson
Jumaine Jones*
James Posey*
Walter McCarty
Darvin Ham
PF:
Jermaine O'Neal
Elton Brand*
Karl Malone
P.J. Brown
Juwan Howard
Kenny Thomas*
Donnell Harvey
C:
Michael Olowokandi
Brad Miller
Alonzo Mourning
Elden Campbell
Radoslav Nesterovic
Loren Woods
Vladimir Stepania
1)Notice all the Clippers- With the Clippers history, they won't all be re-signed.
2)Andre Miller is the player I wish the Magic could land at PG. Yes, his home is Utah, and yes Utah will have tons of cap space. My hope is that after playing for the Cavs and Clips, he'll want to play with a good team and it doesn't look like Utah will be one for awhile.
3)As for a big man: J O'Neal and Brand are big reaches. Some trades would have to be made to acquire either one of those guys. Olowokandi is a possibility. Brad Miller would be pretty good, but P.J. Brown or Juwan Howard should be targeted IMO. Zo is the wild-card. If he's healthy, he'd be perfect, but that's a big if.
4)Donnell Harvey would be a great pickup if we could get him cheap.
What do you guys think?

THIS post is like a christmas "wish-list"! There are many here that any Magic fan would want and the one free agent on that list I would like for the magic to NOT resign is Darrell Armstrong. His body is older than its years and that is NOT good.

I disagree, RifleMan. I would love for Armstrong to come back, as long as the price is cheap. He does all the little things right and sets a great example for the rest of the team. Then again, I may just be biased. He IS one my favorite players.
As for free agents, I have to see how the Magic draft. I would like to see Orlando land A. Miller. He is a top notch PG, IMO. This year was an abberation and not the norm.

I think we should keep Armstrong. I doubt he will demand much money.
I think PJ Brown or Brad Miller would be our best improvement possibilities for C. We need to stay away from Juwan Howard, although he is probably going to LA.
I am not so sure about Andre Miller ... I'd rather draft Barbosa than sign Miller, but that is just a personal opinion.

How about signing Samaki Walker for the center position? He's not the best center, but he's legit. Sign him cheap, and he can either start, or at worst, play back up C/PF. He's certainly an upgrade over what we have right now... that's only, of course, if we can't get big free agents like the ones mentioned above.

No way. Walker was pretty much terrible in LA, a team where they desperately were looking for PF help and a C backup. Hell, Mark Madsen was getting minutes over him. No way.

I would think that free agents would want to come to Orlando just to play with T-MAc. He is the best attraction there (and there are quite a bit of great atttractions). For the most part, the restricted FA may need to be involved in a sign and trade deal so the former team could get something oin return. The Magic don't have anything to offer but Grant Hill
So let's narrow the list down. Salary-wise, the Magic are in a good position. T-Mac and Grant make about 13.5 a piece this year. Adding the other salaries makes it about 33 mill. They could sign some serious players with that room. Hopefully, they can get some injury exception with Grant's salary just in case he's washed up.
PG: Arenas. He's the best bet out of the PG. His agent claims it's gonna take more than 7 mil a year. Even with 8, the MAgic could still afford a little more help. BUT, his asking price still may be too high. See if you could sign him for 35 mil/5 yrs.
SG: I totally can see Jon Barry in Orlando for next to nothing money-wise. Use the MLE on him. Is Giricek still signed or is his contract up?
SF: Wouldn't worry about this position. T-Mac is a monster when he plays the 3.
PF: I like Drew. I say put all the efforts of free agency at the 1 and 5 spot.
C: Go for Kandi. He should be able to grab many boards for T-Mac and company. The Magic needs a center who won't be looking for his shot all the time. Try to sign him for 25 mill/ 5 yrs.
PG: Arenas
SG: Giricek
SF: T-Mac
PF: Drew
C: Kandi
This could be a championship team.

My wist list.
1)Jermaine O'Neal- where did all the $$$ for Duncan go?
2)Karl Malone- would be a great low post presence.
3)Michael Olowokandi- young big man one of the NBA's best centers.
4)PJ Brown- great defender and is a experience playoff preformer.
5)Brad Miller- scrappy center that would be a good fit.
6)Andre Miller- would be a great fit and can run a team
7)Juwan Howard- competitive player that works very hard.
I would say Gary Payton but I just don't see that.
Cheap pickups that could help.
*Donnell Harvey- If the Magic want to go cheap, Harvey is a must, I love this kid, have always thought they should get him.
*Loren Woods- athletic shot blocker that has some promise, firery player.
*Jon Barry- great leader, tough competitor and would be a good open shooter.
*Antonio Daniels- if he is cheap it is worth a shot.
P.S. I hope was re-sign Darrell, he is the heart of this team, we can't just throw him away.
