Interesting note on Orlando's front office skills

I'm a BIG Central Fla sports fan... Bucs... Magic... Lightning... and yes the D-Rays are my favorite teams in there sports... and I was looking at what the Magic were planning for this years draft and i saw on ESPN's magic page there past 16 1st round picks since 92.... TWO of them still play for us... Sasser and Hunter.... we trade Webber.... lose Shaq... trade Matt Harpring and Keon Clark... and procede to draft the likes of Geert Hammink... Brooks Thompson... David Vaughn... Brian Evans... Johnny Taylor... Michael Doleac... Keyon Dooling (Who i still think will be pretty darn good) Courtney Alexander and Ryan Humphrey...Mike Miller's the only good decision Gabe has made perhaps ever at GM and that's cause it brought Drew Gooden and Gordon Giricek (spelling)

Just thought i'd point out that interesting/sad fact

The Shaq pick and Webber pick (which was traded to Golden State for Penny and 3 future 1st round picks, one of those picks turned out to be Mike Miller) were excellent picks. Those picks enabled us to be a very good team which in turn put the Magic in the middle to late section of the 1st round every year. How many GM's do you know about who are striking gold every year in the middle to late portion of the draft?

Also, if it wasn't for the Courtney Alexander and Keyon Dooling ( who has done nothing in the NBA) trade, the Magic would have never had the dough to land Tracy McGrady.

Finally, you're right on the spelling of Giricek's name.

Yes but in hindsight everything looks worse than it was at the time... And the loss of shaq was unfortunate but it would have happened anyway and the Grant Hill signing would have been good had he not blown out his ankles... a little harsh methinks

yea.... good points made... I never meant to be harsh or super critical (and since i sounded that way i'm gonna go run in front of a Greyhound as punishment) it just seems like bad Judgement when u look at the overall picture of the last 16 1st round picks.... but they can make up for it if they select Reece Gaines 15th... I've heard Magic fans say they don't want Gaines cause Gabe THINKS he can play PG.... well Gaines DID play point guard this past year and was a GREAT one at that... having a 6'6" PG who likes to run and has played full court intense trapping defense sounds like a good selection to me.... not to mention the fact that Gaines can light up the score board too... I bet if he had the same skill level but were only a sophmore... he'd go #5 behind James, Darco, Melo, and Bosh

oh and gamble on one of the HS kids in the 2nd round
