What do you think of Oden, a Portland fan who loves Howard
So it more than made my day today when we lucked out and got the #1 pick, but I really hope this doesn't throw us off course from going up-tempo which would benefit so much of our young core with Sergio, Aldridge, and Outlaw so much. I really love these guys and it's been really fun watching them grow, and after finishing last in the league in fast break points I'm ready for a change. I would just really rather not see our core broken up, but I realize Oden is a bigger deal than any of them so it could happen. On the other hand Zach would mesh very well with Oden as he would help to hide Zach's flaws on D, and Zach would pick up the slack in scoring as he has an incredible inside scoring presence, he's a very good rebounder, and a more than servicable mid-range shooter. And Jack fits much better into the slower type game, while Roy can go either way. So what it seems like is the East is a slower pace game that is also barren of much low-post players. I'm just wondering if there's any way you guys would consider some sort of Oden for Howard trade. It could involve Zach too, and honestly Zach is very undervalued, Zach next to Oden would be very scary in theEast for sure.
So, is there any way you guys would consider some sort of Zach and Oden for Howard (Milicic?, Hill? someone else) and filler trade.
I'm not sure you're gonna get many Portland fans that totally agree with me on this one, but I love Howard, he would fit with Aldridge perfectly, and we need to choose one road or another. I know this has very little to no chance, but hey we only had 5% chance to win the lottery too, lol.
The thought of Sergio throwing oops to Howard makes me giddy!
So what is the value of Oden around here?

Sorry, but I don't think that you'll find a Magic fan on these boards that would trade Dwight Howard for anyone but a 28 year old Michael Jordan. In my opinion, I think Oden's ceiling is slightly lower than Howard's.

Homer remarks aside, Oden is 7'1, extremely athletic, and probably already a better defensive player than Howard (actually, he's not probably better, he is). Dwight's 6'10, built like a house, a special rebounder and unstoppable in the post. BUT, at their primes, I could see Oden being the better player, and I'm a huge D12 fan.

Re: What do you think of Oden, a Portland fan who loves Howard
Oden's a bull, he's a physical specimen and he has a good head on his shoulders to boot. He is going to come into the league as one of the best centers in the league right away, and will be a top player in the league for many years. Any talk about trading him or Dwight Howard is pointless.

I didn't think that it was going to happen, I was wondering what you guys would think of it trying to gauge how good others would think Oden was going to be, and comparing his value to Howard. I like Howard's personality and playing style (faster) a lot more than Oden's so from Portland's perspective I think Howard would fit more with their other players. But I can honestly, honestly say that from an Orlando perspective I would do Oden and Zach for Howard, because they don't have the post players Portland does, and I think Zach kills in the east. However, we already have Aldridge and it makes no sense to have all three. Does this make sense?

I'll trade Howard for LeBron straight up.

i guess i can see where you are coming from... but Oden hasn't done anything in the league yet so it would be hard to trade a player that is young and you KNOW is doing something and has proved that he can play, whereas Oden has to still earn some respect. Zach is good, but i would rather have someone that isn't undersized on the defensive end, although oden and Zach could complement each other...

The only way Dwight leaves Orlando is through his own choice, via free agency.
