Report: Magic do not expect Hill to play next season
http://espn.go.com/nba/news/2003/0618/1570169.html
The Orlando Magic expect injury-plagued forward Grant Hill to miss the 2003-04 season because of his troublesome left ankle, the Orlando Sentinel reported in its Thursday editions.
Magic general manager John Gabriel told the paper it was "likely" the six-time NBA All-Star "will never play this coming season."

It amazes me that in this day and age that an ankle injury can keep someone out for 3 plus years. That had to be one bad injury.

The Detroit doctors really messed his ankle up bad. He shouldn't have been playing on it.

We have Arnie Kander as our trainer he would have never did Grant wrong. In fact Grant tried to hire him away from the Pistons as his own personal trainer. Yea Detroit doctors forced him to play on a bum ankle.

He shouldnt have played on the ankle, but I wouldnt necessarily blame it on the Detroit doctors. I think Grant has shown that sometimes he lets his need to get in the game blur his decision making when it comes to his health.
I believe the problem with the ankle is that the doctors kept fixing the ankle, but never fixed what was causing the problem. That is what the latest surgery was for, a major surgery, cracking his heal and re-aligning his foot, ankle, and leg ... the point of this surgery was to not only fix the ankle but to fix the cause of the ankle problems. Too bad they didnt do that 3 years ago.
And whoever said stupid trade... that is easy to say in hindsight, but there wasnt a single GM that wouldnt have given up Ben Wallace and Chucky Atkins for one of the best players on the planet.

This really is pathetic, each year we Magic fans say this will be the year! But Grant get injured, what is this 3 or 4 years in a row now...
I say we draft Boris Diaw and get it over with! He can play the SF spot, he defends well, has upside and is very athletic. I say we take him because to be honest how do we know Grant will every play again?
