JJ Redick

Hey, huge Duke fan here. I was just wondering what you think JJ's role with the team will be this year. Will he get more minutes with a new coach? I really think he could be a contributor and I don't know why you don't play him more considering he was drafted so high. I just remember that big shot he hit against the Pistons and that's all they even put him in for the whole series. I wish people would stop listening to the naysayers who say white boy can't play at the NBA level and just let him have a shot.

He was healthy all season, if im not mistaken.

Brian Hill never seemed to want to play him. His offense he bring out, is the same every game and just wouldn't change it up. JJ wasn't in that rotation. SVG, will most probably give him the minutes this coming season. Maybe even a starting role (if we dont sign anyone before) its either him or Bogans. Bogans is a mediocre talent, so I think we should be expanding on what JJ has.

He'll get more minutes then the last. But he wont be getting significant minutes.

He was healthy MOST of the season... but he did miss training camp before last year and he also missed the first couple weeks because of a herniated disc if my memory serves me correct.

The reason he didn't see extended playing time was because of hill and turk. They would rotate them along with ariza around the 2 and 3 spot. Now that Hill is gone and JJ is healthy and hasn't missed any offseason work outs, he should get playing time right away, barring any deals that brings JR over to Orlando (). He has impressed SVG during the offseason with his defensive play and i certainly see JJ coming off the bench and contributing regularly.

Exactly what I was saying. He wasn't a part of Brian Hill's rotation.

I can really see JJ as a potential 6th MAN OF THE YEAR. In the next few years, (maybe its me being a Magic fan) but he does have everything to become a great 6th man. Just run Reddick picks, he'll sink the shot off the screen every time. By being a 6th man, you cannot be undersized but just be great at your roll. JJ's role is purely to score, specially from the perimeter. His defensive game is also growing, which is great off the bench. Not to mention the energy he brings to a team, just look at his days in Duke.
