Re: Foyle Agrees To Terms With Orlando
Australian would have to be a race for it to be racial profiling.

Gordon and Deng's strategy during contract negotiations should consist only of a picture of Kirk Hinrich and repeated utterances of the following: "C'mon, man! The ****!?!?" Paxon would crack.
So, they're gonna miss the playoffs WITH Iverson? Listen, people, it's time you reevaluate just how good Iverson is and what he brings to a team.

It isn't like we're overpaying him, that's what is important...he's servicable for the minutes he'll recieve.
Stick to Boomerang's and Kangeroos

Dude, your one shallow guy.
We all said our opinion, where all here to talk ball. You just come along with racist comments about Australians. Your a ****ing ***k, how the hell can you seriously say that. I'm Australian, and as is fortyy and a few other guys, how does being Australian alter our position as a fan?
Heck, I could bet money that the Australian posters here are just as loyal and as smart as any guy in the states. You could simply say you disagree, and give reasoning.
But stereotyping Australians, and basically saying. We're not knowledgeable because we aren't from the states like you. Is just not cool.

Technically, but stereo typing an Australian. In saying, "Stick to Boomerang's and Kangaroos." It seems like it was thrown in a racist gender.
Isn't Jnice a MOD, shouldn't you be on top of this?

Thanks for backing me up JMEWLS REPPED
I agree with everything you said above. Just because we are from Australia(or any other country besides the USA) doesnt neccesarliy mean we arent knowledgeable posters about the NBA.

No problem.
I'll REP you back, I know we had our disagreements. But I think its fair to say, that we'd both put our pride of being Australian before the NBA. I'm just sticking up for what I believe in, and I'm sure your doing the same.

All good man. I enjoyed our little arguement/debate about foyle. If everyone had the same opinions, there wouldn't much point of making a basketball forum.
Having arguements/debates with someone is what makes basketball forums. It really gets you thinking and improves your basketball knowledge, which is why I'm here.

Is this really that insulting? I'm not going to be offended if someone tells me to stick to old people and gators. Seems a bit oversensitive.

prolific just threw out a blast at the end of his statement... no big deal, if anything the responses afterwards were more inappropriate.

Magic discover role that suits Foyle perfectly
The veteran's defense and toughness should free up center Dwight Howard to hone his offensive skills.

Adonal Foyle talks with the media about his signing with the Orlando Magic. (JULIE FLETCHER, ORLANDO SENTINEL / August 24, 2007)
Tim Povtak | Sentinel Staff Writer
August 25, 2007
The Golden State Warriors had little use for Adonal Foyle. The Orlando Magic should have plenty.
It's all about finding the right fit in the NBA.
"He brings a lot of things that we need,'' said Magic Coach Stan Van Gundy. "For us, it's a great addition. He fills a real void that we had.''
Foyle, 32, is the shot-blocking defensive-minded center who was signed by the Magic on Friday, expecting him to be the third wheel in the three-big-man rotation that will start with Dwight Howard and Tony Battie.
Although Foyle doesn't have the offensive game, or the long-term potential of center/forward Darko Milicic, who left last month as a free agent for Memphis, he should provide the frontcourt toughness the Magic needed.
Foyle signed a two-year deal that starts with the veteran's minimum of $1.2 million but includes the option to become a free agent after this season.
He became available this summer when he accepted a buyout from the Warriors, who owed him $8.9 million for this season and $9.7 million the following year. He decided to take a little less for his freedom, knowing he would sign somewhere else to make up much of the difference, and receive a chance to revitalize his career.
"This was an opportunity for me to play again,'' he said. "If I wanted to stay in this league for a few more years, I needed the chance to show I could play. I left money on the table. I took a cut, but I want to have fun playing basketball again. This is going to be good.''
Foyle never fit into the helter-skelter small-ball style of Warriors Coach Don Nelson, who hardly used him in their only season together. Foyle played in only three of the Warriors' 11 playoff games last season, averaging two minutes. He played in only 48 games during the regular season, averaging 10 minutes, 2.2 points and 2.6 rebounds.
The year before, under Coach Mike Montgomery, Foyle started in 72 games, averaging 23.7 minutes, 4.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.6 blocked shots. That is the player the Magic want.
At 6 feet 10 and 270 pounds, Foyle is the guy they will use to help with Eastern Conference centers such as Shaquille O'Neal (Miami), Eddy Curry (New York) and Zydrunas Ilgauskas (Cleveland), giving them a more physical player than Battie and giving Howard a chance to focus more on his offense.
"He gives us a shot blocker and a defensive post presence, which we're going to need so that Dwight isn't always stuck guarding the other team's best low-post center. He can give Dwight a break,'' Van Gundy said. "He's strong, and he's tough.''
The addition of Foyle gives the Magic 13 players under contract for this season. The 14th soon will become rookie center Marcin Gortat of Poland, who played the past two seasons in Europe after he was drafted in the second round in 2005. Although Gortat has agreed to contract terms, the Magic still are awaiting more paperwork.
The Magic may leave the 15th roster spot unfilled going into training camp next month, giving them flexibility once other teams start moving players. It also will help them attract better training camp players, who will know a roster spot remains open.
Gortat and second-year power forward James Augustine are expected to provide the depth in the Magic frontcourt, playing behind Howard and veterans Battie and Foyle.
Van Gundy also is considering a smaller and more offensive-minded lineup that would include Howard at center between forwards Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu. The idea would be to surround Howard with as many shooters as possible. Van Gundy also will have the option of using forward Trevor Ariza for his defense at shooting guard, or using J.J. Redick there for his long-range shooting ability.
"When you're trying to build a great defense in this league, a lot of it starts with the big guys,'' Van Gundy said. "If you can protect the basket and not give up the easy stuff, you can be tough to score on. It's a great start at the defensive end. Dwight, Tony and Adonal -- together -- can do that.''
