The Orlando Magic have more road wins than any team in the NBA, but they've had trouble recently away from home. Their struggles in Memphis, however, have lasted for years.

Orlando looks to win in Memphis for the first time in six games while trying to avoid losing its fourth straight on the road on Wednesday when it faces the Grizzlies.

The Magic (26-17) began the season by winning 11 of their first 13 on the road, but they're just 5-7 since, and have dropped their past three away from home.

They haven't won in Memphis since Jan. 19, 2002, their first trip there after the Grizzlies moved from Vancouver. Memphis (12-29) has beaten Orlando five straight times at home, winning by an average of 13.0 points.

The Magic have been playing better at home, winning three straight, including their past two against a pair of division leaders - a 101-94 victory against Portland on Saturday and a thrilling win over Detroit on Monday.

Pistons guard Chauncey Billups hit a deep 3-pointer to tie the score at 100 with 3.6 seconds left, but Rashard Lewis banked home a foul-line jumper to give Orlando a 102-100 win.

"I just like the progress and obviously to get back to back wins against Portland and Detroit is huge because they are two outstanding teams," Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said. "You have to play that hard and that tough in order to beat those teams, there's no other way, you're not just going to shoot your way to victory."

Orlando shot over 50 percent in both victories. The Magic had gone 11 games without making at least half of their shots prior to the win over the Trail Blazers.

Lewis has given the Magic what they'd been lacking - a genuine 3-point threat. He is second in the NBA in 3-pointers made with 115 and Orlando (381) trails only Golden State's 420 as a team.

Those 381 3-pointers are already more than the Magic hit all of last season, when only three teams hit fewer than their 342.

Inside, Dwight Howard continues to emerge as one of the NBA's most dominant big men. He's averaging 22.1 points and a league-best 15.0 rebounds.

Howard's last three games against the Grizzlies have been impressive. He's averaging 28.7 points and 18.0 rebounds, though the Magic have lost two of those contests - including a 123-119 loss in Orlando on Dec. 15.

Memphis' Rudy Gay had a career-high 32 points in that game, and the second-year forward from Connecticut has been one of the best young players in the league despite his team's struggles.

He's scoring 19.7 points per game this season, and has been on a roll in his last three games. He's averaged 23.7 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.3 steals.

Gay had 24 points, 10 rebounds and four steals in the Grizzlies' 104-90 win over Chicago on Monday.

"We played our game, and we didn't settle for less," Gay said. "When we come out and want to play fast, and we don't settle for anything else, I think we're pretty good."

Monday was a good day for Gay off the court as well. It was announced he'd join Howard and two others in the NBA's dunk contest during All-Star weekend on Feb. 16.

"I've got something they haven't seen before," Gay said. "If they've seen it, I'm going to be upset."

hope to see a preview of the dunk contest... Dwight vs Gay

i totally agree PS...

I think they are missing an identity and a solid game plan. Lots of talented players that don't seem to know what they are supposed to do... i also noticed throughout the season that they settle for way to many jump shots instead of trying to penetrate.
