Magic looking to cement their 3rd seed
Quote:
This is a good chance for the Magic to start padding their lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers for that No. 3 playoff seed in the Eastern Conference.
They play the Clippers, Miami and Indiana, three teams with losing records, the rest of this week.
The Magic (41-24) are almost assured of home court in the first round of the playoffs, but their lead over the dangerous Cavaliers isn't so secure unless they keep winning.
The difference is that at No. 3, they are likely to face either Washington or Philadelphia in the first round instead of falling to No. 4, where they could see the Toronto Raptors at No. 5.
"We just have to keep winning games," said Hedo Turkoglu, "and all that other stuff will take care of itself."

If I were the Magic I'd much rather see the Sixers or Wizards, even though Washington might be dangerous once everyone gets back.

Re: Magic looking to cement their 3rd seed
i tend to think that the Wizards would be an easier opponent. They have lost a lot of their chemistry that they had going when Caron was having his all-star year, but since his absence they almost seem like they don't have things together. Once Caron and Agent 0 return, i'm gonna assume that they aren't going to jump right in and play great whereas Philly has played extremely well and has total team chemistry right now.

Re: Magic looking to cement their 3rd seed
I don't care who they see because they will be a better team than any of them IMO. The Magic are going to step it up a notch for the playoffs and those weaker east teams will get destroyed IMO by the likes of the Celtics, Magic and Pistons because they are the true beasts of the east. The Cavs, I mean Lebron hype, is all due to last season. His team isn't that good and they will fail in the playoffs this year IMO.

The Wizards are actually playing a little better lately...they beat the Hornets twice and have played well otherwise, given the circumstances.

And they just got destroyed by the Magic by 30 points after winning 5 of 6. Sorry, but the Wizards even with Arenas and Butler back aren't in the Magic's league and will probably get swept in the 1st round just like they got swept last year.

i agree across the board...
the only reason i am saying that i would rather see Washington is because they would be an easier opponent albeit we should beat whoever we play.

Re: Magic looking to cement their 3rd seed
Idk, i think I would most like to see Toronto or philly, cuz with Gilbert and Butler both coming back they can be better than their record indicates....But like Hedo said there's no telling, so we just need to keep winning games and doin what we do best

Re: Magic looking to cement their 3rd seed
If the Magic can go on a nice winning streak for the next 2 weeks, they will have the division won before April even hits. They might even have the 3rd seed wrapped up by the first week of April if they keep winning.

Yea hopefully we can roll into the playoffs with some momentum on our side.....Van Gundy's got us looking really solid and focused right now and 50+ win season would be great!

The Wizards haven't been completely healthy in awhile, but when they are, they're entirely comparable to the Magic and Cavaliers.

Re: Magic looking to cement their 3rd seed
yeah although the sixers have been hot lately, they dont scare me as much as a healthy wizards team. Arenas has the capability to take games over, that is if he can get back to close to his healthy form.

Re: Magic looking to cement their 3rd seed
I don't think Arenas will be even 8 out of 10 this year, but that won't be needed with the way Butler's stepped up. I'm not even sure Washington would want that from him, because when he's on his game he dominates the ball.
They've done fairly well sharing the ball this year, it'll be interesting to see how he impacts their flow.

Exactly. Washington has too many variables for my liking, but depending on which team shows up determines how i truly feel about them.... they can either be an easy sweep for us or a really tough out. After thinking about it tho, the main plus' with them and philly are that they're not really 3-pt shooting teams, so we should be able handle them with Dwight protecting the paint for us, where as Toronto on the other hand can kill us from deep. As long are shots are falling tho i don't think it will matter who we face in the 1st round, but if we're off, Toronto would definately scare me the most.
