Omar Cook

Anybody know anything about Omar Cook? I think i've heard his name dropped a couple of times in various threads. Is he any good, the magic just signed him.

I've heard he is okay. A really good passer but he doesn't really have much of an offense. He is still really really young, so there is still chance for big developments, it just depends on whether he can and whether a team gives him the chance to develop.

Any other ideas? Will he make it?

Well when he was drafted, he was projected 1st round by some, and some felt he wouldn't go... so he has some talent. After he dropped, he was traded, so perhaps scouts and GM aren't as high on him as writers...

I don't know much more about him, sorry.

He was just an incredible high school player, but a long way away from an NBA point guard, the hardest position for a kid to learn.
If you have an open #12 spot on a roster, you could have a future player at a difficult position to fill in many cases. If they do this developmental league for guys who are not cut for University but not ready for NBA, he fits there.

Does anybody know any details and parmeters of that league?

I doubt he'll make it. He quick, got fantastic handles, and is a superb passer.. but he cant shoot a lick and he makes a lot of bad decisions.

I am really surprised they signed him over bringing in Smush Parker.

I agree that I am shocked they let Smush go over to wind up picking up Cook. At the same time Smush was more of a scorer while Cook, yes makes bad decisions is a pass first point and that is some simbalance of what the Magic need

Forgive me for asking but is Smush Parker still a free agent?

I have seen Smush playing for Cleveland in the preseason.
