I know the games are not for two weeks, but I just wanted to start a thread for anyone to talk about anything that will be going on in the upcoming Olympics.
I watched the US Olympic trials on NBC and I am very excited for the Olympics to get going. As usual we have many standout athletes.
In track it was obviously a surprise Marion Jones did not do as well as she should have, but really like they said, she was pregnant a year and a half ago so really you can not blame her. Gale is still running strong amazingly, and it would be great to see Stacy do well in the Poll Vault.
On the mens side the 100 meter runners are just amazing. The top 4 all had times under 10 seconds. Greene looks well to form and I love watching a competitor like that compete. And the young guys they have on the team is amazing. Crawford is a tank on the track and has great speed, Gaitlin is very solid as well and I like John Capel as a 100 meter runner or a 400 meter runner on a relay. Those will be the main guys to watch, the sort speed runners. But I was amazed at Webb in the mile, his times are just sick and I love his intensity and it would be great to see him run the mile, he is a real talent.
The only other event I watch is the swimming trials and I was amazed at how many young people were in them. There are a few girls that are only 16 and they are in the Olympics. The women have great swimmers though and that is great to see. And Phelps (Spelling could be wrong) is a great talent and it really is amazing that he and so many other US swimmers set world records just at the US trials.
The other events I do not know much about because I never got to see them, but overall I am very excited about the Olympics coming up in two weeks.
Its great competition and I love watching them, I am glued to the TV those two weeks every two years from the summer and winter games.
