There are some really lame threads on there now, I used to look and read some of the stuff, and they had some interesting debates and topics flying around, but now it is just trash.
Is it just me or does the ebb all of a sudden suck?
I said to myself that once the Personal Forums were up and about, that would bring about the end of the EBB forum in terms of meaningful discussion. Instead of posting topics on there, the main players on the forum (Minstrel, Petey, TB#1, myself, you, R-Star, etc) would simply build up their own forums instead. And if you look at the personal forums, the most active ones are mainly the people who made the EBB forum work for so long.
Also, noteworthy trolls such as Mattsanity have been banned lately, bringing about a lack of insults, meaning fewer funny posts. They've been replaced by lame imitations like RunToFreeForFly.
Minstrel has blocked jvanbusk or vice-versa, so there are little to no major political debates anymore. Abortion, God, the Iraq War and same-sex marriages have all been done to death. And like I said, the people who made those discussions interesting have their own personal forums now where they post about that stuff.
There haven't been many creative ideas from the posters lately. The BBBwood Squares game, I thought, added a lot to the forum. The Hot Chick Draft voting process will eventually add something else for the members to do, and possibly build back the forum.
Those are some of my reasons for the lack of intelligent discussion currently on that forum.

Yes that is true, because of these boards I never go on the ebb board and because of the Hot Chick Draft I just go on either that or this for discussion or just bsing.
NCAA and NIT popularity contests and the freestyle contest took over EBB and now everyone's looking for the next big thing. Instead we are just bumping random comments, what song you are listening to, etc. Also television seasons are pretty much over so not much to talk about except movies.
It has declined slightly but since I haven't really posted in the EBB forum for long I don't know how good it was before. I think its decent right now and there are some cool topics but I agree I also visit the personal forums are taking up some of the otherwise EBB topics.

Yeah, I felt that the personal forums have really taken over the value of EBB, as every poster's more specificied needs and wants that they look for are given to them in these personal forums where they can communicate with others that have the same interests. Then again, I still EBB still has some juice in that EVERYONE visits, and it has a more broad approach instead of that small, groupish type feel you get in the personal forums. And don't worry, I'll always try to think of some new games or activities to keep the EBB jumping. First it was BBBwood Squares, then it was the March Madness tournament. I do have something prepared for the summer that will should keep it fun for several weeks.

The EBB board has always had its ups and downs. I don't really see the personal forums taking away from EBB that much. For example, I have my music reviews on my board, which I wouldn't have started on EBB. Minstrel has his Consult Minstrel thread, which could be EBB, but I doubt he'd have bothered if not for his personal board. Much of the rest of Minstrel's board is his poetry, which he wouldn't have posted on EBB.
EBB will get some hot topics soon enough. As noted above, many of the best hotbutton topics have been done to death, and need a break.
I do hope the trend of moron threads dies off soon though...
BTW: I'll be updating and getting caught up on my CD reviews later this week.
I blame the caging of for the demise of EBB...I've lost my edge, I'm playing scared and it's really effecting my performance. I'm not willing to come across the middle...I'm just sticking to running up the side lines.
Incidentally, I don't block anyone. While a moderator shouldn't, I wouldn't even if I weren't a mod.
