Uh, the Spurs lost to Alba Berlin in a rather crazy finish.

http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=400583938

and JH got a big ol' DNP. Looks like the Spurs stars played regular season minutes.

Even the Spurs have trouble inbounding the ball.

Re: Boston University Alumni Updates

Holland received another DNP in the Spurs' second game in Turkey. Unless something unexpected happens, he won't be going too far to join his next club.
Quote:
John Holland is close to signing a deal with Besiktas Integral Forex of the Turkish Basketball League, Klasspor reports (translation by Enea Trapani of Sportando). Holland is currently in training camp with the Spurs on a two-year arrangement that has a $20K guarantee for the first season. San Antonio would need to waive Holland before he could ink any deal overseas. No announcement from the Spurs has been made in regards to Holland’s status as of yet.

Darryl Partin is leading the Danish League in scoring at just under 29 ppg, including 46 points in his last game.

John Holland still doing things.

I was hoping this year he might land a 10-day contract. A lot of random guys have been popping up in the NBA this last part of the season. Maybe next year...

Beşiktaş - an upper-half team in the Turkish League.

Quite a few recognizable teammates (JaJuan Johnson, Chris Lofton, Hilton Armstrong, Scottie Reynolds). Holland is a big contributor too, not just a benchwarmer.

A couple fun tweets about the NBA playoffs and BU basketball.

Cavs in 5, Warriors in 6.

Re: Boston University Alumni Updates

Even with the familial legacy, we weren't able to get them to come to BU. :P

Re: Boston University Alumni Updates

BU will be represented in this summer's TBT. D.J., Dom, Malik, and Pat are reuniting to take a crack at the one million dollar prize.

I'm unfamiliar with the non-BU players, but shooting and scoring may be weaknesses. Maybe John Holland gets the call again to help in these areas. Still, I could see them win a game or two in the tournament, depending on matchups.

Re: Boston University Alumni Updates

The "BU" TBT team has been matched up against a team that consists of a few St. John's and Seton Hall players. BU will be the underdog because they probably won't match the offensive skill of their opponents, but we shouldn't underestimate a possible advantage in team chemistry for our guys.

Quote:
A Round 1 Big Apple battle will take place on the first night of action in Philadelphia, as the NYC Superstars take on Team Oohway. The NYC Superstars came up short in TBT last summer, bowing out to the eventual champion in the first round. But after months of practice and the addition of D.J. Irving and Dominic Morris, teammates of Patrick Hazel at Boston University, GM/guard Lance Hazel is hoping for a different outcome in 2015. Team Oohway is looking to add another title this summer, after claiming the EBC Rucker Park championship in 2014. In order to get back to New York for a shot at the $1,000,000, Ari Sanchez will rely on the guard play of Luis Flores, Dwight Hardy, Jeremy Hazell and Jordan Theodore and the presence of 6’10” Brian Williams on the block. They may be playing in the City of Brotherly Love, but there is no love lost between these two city foes. #1 seeded Boeheim's Army awaits the winner.

Re: Boston University Alumni Updates

Wow, are DJ, Pat and Dom really pulling in 85 k just to play in a mini tournament or is that sort of a salary cap figure like fantasy baseball? If so, that's fantastic.

How exactly does this thing work?

You have to declare beforehand how the $1M payout for winning the championship would be distributed among the team. An interesting take on the salary cap.

Re: Boston University Alumni Updates

The BU TBT team advanced to the next round after their opponents dropped out of the tournament. Up next is the Syracuse alumni team, possibly the top team in the entire tournament.

Game time is 7:30pm this Saturday in Philadelphia. The game will also be streamed and archived here:

BTW, two other teams will have a Patriot League flavor this weekend.

The "Holy Cross" team

The "Lehigh" team
